The Wookie's Fist?

"Supernatural Wash Mitt
Before George Lucas rings his lawyer, he should be aware that we don't legally refer to the Supernatural Wash Mitt by its colloquial and popular nickname: 'The Wookie's Fist'.
We can see where people are coming from, though. It's an ultra-soft wash mitt with a massively deep pile, and if wash mitts are your thing then this is the daddy. Or the Chewie.
Believe it or not, people even give their wookies names and there's even a set of care instructions for them somewhere on the internet, from washing them inside a pillow case to combing them with a pet brush afterwards.
They also attack and eat lesser wash mitts and drink half your bucket in one go. A strange and mythical beast, the Supernatural Wash Mitt.

The world's priciest wash mitt (you got that right at $40.00 a piece!)."

From actual experience, is this any good/worth the money?
Any help is appreciated.

I don't know. I have one and it's huge. When it's fully loaded with shampoo, it weighs about 80 pounds so my right arm is gigantic. My left - not so much.

Is it worth 40 bucks? To a lot of people ------ no. To me, yup, every penny. I'm a huge Star Trek, Star Wars fan. I know what NCC means. My mitochondria level is high. I know where #1 was born. I know the colors of Darth Maul's light sabre and who trained him. I know how Kirk survived the Kobyashi Maru scenario, I have a Starfleet Academy ring. i know who played Qui-Gon Jinn and who was his stunt double. I know why Quark selected the girls for working the Dabo wheel.

So, for me, the Wookie's Fist is worth it's weight in gold pressed latinum.

OK, OK, OK, my tongue was in my cheek the entire time and thanks a million for the opportunity of a reply. I really do know what NCC means, as in NCC-1701 and I even know where the Enterprise was built, and I really do own one and I would buy one again in a heart beat if I lost mine.

I have one from Walmart (forgive me) that sounds very familiar to the 'fist.' It has hundreds of 1-1/2 inch "dreadlocks" and it seems that every time I dip it in the soap bucket, half of the water comes out with it. It was fairly cheap, BUT ever since I started using it, I haven't had any wash-induced swirls. It's as thick as three lambs wool mitts and it really holds the dirt deep in the knap. The rinse bucket is unusually clean and I either have to blast it with the hose (on heavy stream) or put it in the washer to really clean it. I just looked it up and it's around $7

Never used one.

For some reason I think that "grooming" it would take more time than it's worth. (at least to lazy me)

I own one. I use one. This is my favorite wash mitt period! Hang it up and let it air dry.
Grooming is minimal and VERY easy. This IS my only wash mitt for any vehicle of value.

I am tempted to try one, but as stated the weight and upkeep are a drawback. On a side note, over at AG, the dodo tribble wash mitt was just released. That has my attention....

Well, MERLIN you give the "fist" a good review. And this is first hand experience. This puts it on my want list in the future.

From actual experience, is this any good/worth the money?.

*** A quality wash mitt is VERY important to your wash maintenance. ***

The "Wookies Fist" is my number 1 wash mitt for any quality vehicle.
(and it's FUN to use!)

The Carpro 100% Merino Wool wash mitt is 2nd. It's the same wool.
(Less wool = less $)

3rd is MicroFiber Madness Incredimitt. This is my daily driver mitt.

Noting that I get all the "big stuff" off with a BHB before switching to a mitt...I still don't want something that's IMO more likely to retain dirt; a shorter-nap mitt allows the foamgun to "flush it clean" while I'm washing and also (just IMO) makes it easier to rinse out in the rinse bucket (not that I ever rinse out dirt in those but that's just me and my technique).

I wouldn't use one of those "dreadlock"/"mupper" mitts on a bet, but again that's just me and some people sure do like them.

Regular ol' sheepskin mitts for me when using conventional shampoos (MF ones for rinseless, but again that's after getting all the big stuff off first via other media).

I use most of the various types of media interchangeably: long sheepskins mitt (Wookie), short sheepskin mitt (BMW), muppet mitt (Cobra), BHB (Montana), MF wash pad (Griots), and high GSM MF towels (MF Tech / GDWM).

They all seem to work pretty well for me and none of them scratch. I think most quality wash media are "safe"; it's more the technique how you use them. I usually just grab whatever I feel like using without too much thought.

One thing that bugs me is mitts like the CarPro mitt that are "one sided". I just can't see that as being efficient. I usually do half a panel and flip the mitt to a clean side. So, that's 50% less times I have to go into the rinse and wash buckets with a 2 sided mitt compared to a one sided mitt.

I'm just lazy I guess.

The MF wash media are easy, because you just throw them in the wash with towels. The sheepskin mitts to feel "special" when you are using them, but I doubt there is any real benefit.

The Wookie is more work. You have to comb it with a pet brush and hang it to dry in a way the center stays propped open. I usually stick it on top of a pole. It takes a massive amount of flooding water to get all the soap out of it.

Another 2 worth bringing up are the adams sheepskin wash pads and griots sheepskin wash mitt. I have used both in the past. The griots is a very high quality mitt.

I've been using 7 or 8 of the MF dreadlock mitts per wash, and Meg's mitts on rockers. This keeps debris retention low because I just don't use one mitt long enough. It is a lot of laundry though.
However, after hearing from you guys how much water these thick wool mitts hold, I just have to have one. Or four.

Yea. Thats another one for sure. It was their daily special last week for like $19. At that price i was going to try it.

What is it about the dreadlock/mupper mitts that people find appealing?

Another 2 worth bringing up are the adams sheepskin wash pads and griots sheepskin wash mitt. I have used both in the past. The griots is a very hight quality mitt.

My GG sheepkin mitts were a bit different from my other ones...longer/finer nap, harder to decontaminate if it gets loaded with stuff that sticks but still a nice mitt.
