The Wax Test...... NEW!!

I'd like to know how they conducted the tests but don't want to pay $15 for that information. If anyone bought the magazine plz tell me what the tests were like.
 
I took a peek at the message board, and just from a glance the expertise and skill was not at the level of this board. I guess it is just funny and easy for us to poo poo the whole idea. Maybe for Joe Smoe it is a good deal.



Remember, there are folks out there typing on the keyboard with Turtlewax on their fingers! :D
 
8,000 copies times $15 each is $120,000!! For that kinda cash maybe we should write the Autopia Concours Prep Manual. :eek:

Also, They changed the name from thewaxtest.com to thewaxtest.org because they were not going to be a profit organization... They now link thewaxtest.org to this guru thing and want $15 (normally $19.95) for the test... Way to go guy! The non-profit organization.
 
First off, these tests are conducted by who? Do any of you know them personally? I don't and if you haven't given me a reason to trust you, why should i pay for info.



Second, what works on one car (brand, color, condition, etc) may not be the same results another experiences. I believe the best way is to come up with a plan that provides the reults YOU like. Some want long lasting durability with shine being second. Some want extreme shine and durability is not a big deal. I say, each person should conduct their own wax test on theor own vehicles. After doing many cars, I have seen better reults using the same techniques but different products. Just takes some experimenting.



Thirdly, the waxes were possibly donated (even if purchased still not that much money spent) and tested (most likely on their own vehicles). We could be paying someone to wax their own vehicle with free products. ANother point....$14.95 a copy. Maybe costs a couple cents a copy. So you have the internet......maybe (being conservative) 2000 people buy it. They make $29,900 just with that many people. Hmmmm, imagine we could make a concours guide, sell it for 20 bucks a pop and be able to buy every person on here PC's and MF (for the everyday posters) and still have money to pay for the site. :bow

Maybe I can do a big wax test along with my soap test. I mean, I'm gonna have a lot of painted test panels for the soap test... Why not do a wax test at the same time.



Got to get the soap test together first. I'll be posting something about that in the next few days. I really want to do it.

In response to the question how to remove bird droppings:



"what I do is soak a cloth with hot, hot water. I mean completely saturate it and just place it on top of the turd and let it sit for a few minutes. then lift the cloth and use the some more hot water to washa away the rest. You don't want to wipe it off becau ebird turd had sand and crap (no pun intended) which could scratch clear coats. Some people use white vinegar as well but I think that stirps the wax off you paint. good luck"

I'll do ProWax's Satin Creme and Miracle Wax. I'll also go grab their paste wax.



Edit: Wait... They include Lemon Pledge as one of their test waxes! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! No one waxes their car with Lemon Pledge. Sure a few people quick detail with it but calling it a wax?



If they are including Lemon Pledge they should also include Armorall original shine since I've heard people use that on their cars instead of wax. What is armorall protective barrier?

I dunno. I can't find any example pages on the site.... I don't even know which 46 waxes were actually tested. Really don't know what to expect, but I'm going to place my order for the report + guru membership. I think of it this way. If I personally spend the money on 46 waxes to test them out myself, I would spend heck a lot more than $35. I've always like "thewaxtest" and Steve so I don't think I'll be disappointed. :xyxthumbs



There are too much negative comments right now BEFORE anyone even read it.. This is not right! ;)

AutoInt's products are crud? I don't think so. I think Ford, GM, Toyota, Volvo, Land Rover, Chrysler, Saturn, Sabb, Nissan, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Hyundia and Mazda would all agree with me.

They never tested No. 20 Polymer Sealant. Heck, I emailed thewaxtest.com last fall, and Steve emailed me back that they were unaware of the No. 20 Polymer Sealant. They are supposed to be testing it for their "round three " "fall test". I'm looking forward to what they have to say about it, although it won't sway me one way or the other. Been using No. 20 for many years and I'm very happy with it.
