The Vintage was worth every penny...

SuperBee364- I'm a little late to this party and I don't really have anything of value to add. But I did want to say that I'm glad to hear you're so happy with the Vintage and that it seems compatible with your nice and gentle BHB washes.

Sorry to hear about the dealer wash. I hope you brought it to the attention of the higher-ups. I've been through that, and the thought of losing me as a customer had a real effect on their future actions. On the bright(er?) side, I'll be curious about how the Vintage looks on the areas you can't get 100% perfect, as the cars I would use it on have paint that can no longer be fully corrected for one reason or another.

On the wheels, the clear on most wheels is both thicker and harder than normal clearcoat, but there's a limit to what it can take. I use my old stand-bys 3M PI-III RC 05933 and PI-III MG 05937 most of the time, so you might choose similar products accordingly.

While I've managed to resist the Zymol temptation (despite the best efforts of lbls1 and others :D ), it's always nice to hear about somebody being so satisfied with something that others seem to like to bash. Especialy something in the expensive discretionary purchase category, which seems to sometimes bring out the worst in people.

SilverLexus- I wasn't referring to you in the above bit about people bashing Zymol, I remember your Zymol/Souveran comments and I keep them in mind. I have found that Souveran tends to "soften" and/or retain contamination though, and maybe the Zymol would be different in that regard :nixweiss

And I always remember to consider the eye-of-the-beholder angle as I'm just off the scale in that regard where the Jag is concerned, having some strong opinions about how that paint oughta look. So it's not like we all have to like the same stuff!

Oh well, as long as HD Cleanse and by-bare-hand application are required, I doubt I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Vintage anyhow. But I'm still following threads like this and keeping an open mind...

I'll get you converted Accumulator pal....................

If Its The Last Thing I Do..........................bwhahahahahaha!!!

Ok, seriously. Accumulator is right. It is nice to hear someone (for a change) that has a lot of enthusiasm about this product. I enjoyed (believe it or not) hearing how Superbee described his experience with Vintage; almost like finding a new toy. It reminds me a lot of the first time I put away my doubts and tried an EGZ. The joys in using the EGZymols is developing the finish results into your paint, as well as measuring how much of an improvement that you've made as compared with other products.

It has also been good seeing a lot of other (humbling) examples here at Autopia of finishes prepared with various Zymols (01bluecls still has my head reeling with those red ferraris!). The object in using this product is witnessing and comparing the results, as well as enjoying the finish without the gripes about price (and on the other side of the coin) or the usual grudge matches with putting down other products.

I enjoy many different finishes with various products, and how other users have derived satisfaction from those experiences. It just makes the participation on the board that much better when different detailing finishes can be talked about and shown without downplaying the product or the user with the usual quips with price and/or the composition such as synthetic vs. carnauba.

Man... I'm just drooling over your Vintage. I think that once I up my business a little and get rid of the "test waxes" I'm gonna go in for a Vintage. Hell, I can upsell it for a lot more and use it for myself as well. I'm pretty sure it's worth the $$$ since I have many years to live. How much wax is there in the tub?

lbls1- Yeah, they really did some damage. I've had dealer washes before, and it seems like invariably they manage to do some swirling, but this is the worst I've seen. There's an area of swirling on the trunk that is really bad. The washer must have had a rock stuck in the wash mitt, too, cause there are several swirl-scratches that catch a fingernail when felt. So those are there for good. It looks like there must have been somthing on the paint in that spot and he was really getting after it.

Accumulator- thanks for the wheel info. :) next time I wash, I'm going to remove the wheels and do them individually off of the car.

I'll see if I can get some decent pictures of how the scratches look after the Vintage has been applied. I didn't say anything to the delearship about it, though. It seems like dealer washes always have been, and always will be, a major source of swirls and paint damage. I just can't believe that I forgot to tell them to not wash the car. :( I really do think that you would be impressed with how compatible the Vintage is with your gentle wash technique (which I love, btw). The Vintage just lets go of anything touching it. You've seen the videos of how vintage repels water? Well, it does the same thing to dirt/dust/contaminants when washed. I just sheds the stuff.

I am convinced, though, that if there is in fact a Hell, it will consist of being forced to remove HD-Cleanse for the rest of eternity. I was going to try MFTG instead of HD-Cleanse this time, but I chickened out. HD-Cleanse does do a fairly good job of hiding existing scratches. I actually enjoy the hand application of the wax, though. Vintage goes on and off so easily. It's a shame the HD-Cleanse has to totally ruin the experience. The combination of HD-Cleanse and Vintage does do a pretty darn good job of hiding light scratches and imperfections in the paint. Much better than MFTG topped with Z5 and Z2. I'd be willing to bet it would be pretty hard to beat HD-Cleanse/Vintage when it comes to hiding imperfections. If I had a car that I could no longer correct, I would definitely use the HD/vintage combination for a couple reasons: 1. it does a very good job of hiding the imperfections 2. it is so much easier to clean this LSP, which means less of a chance of inducing additional marring in the no longer correctible paint. Even the drying process can be touch free if you use a blower, as the vintage sheds water so quickly... an open hose rinse leaves just a few drops of water behind. Blow those off, and you're left with a spot free shine with no chance of towel drying induced marring.

Kapinnn- I can't remember the number of ounces, but it is a huge tub of wax. Huge.

After reading the ingredients of the Vintage wax, kinda made me hungry :LOLOL Anyways, glad you like it SuperBee! BTW, for the pros and whoever uses this wax and charges for it: How much more would you charge in order to apply this product?

If I get it I'll charge about $50 more. Considering It's 22oz and we use 1 oz per car that's $1100. Once I do 2 tubs it should have covered it's cost and paid for itself...

Maybe I'm charging too much :-D

Nice thread. I think I am going to order some Vintage as soon as I move. I've really enjoyed using Concours, so I am excited to try Vintage.

AFAIK, you cannot use the vintage/royale for commercial use unless approved/licensed by Zymol? Is that true? I thought that it had more to do with the refills than anyother forseable issue.

Bee, Now sure if I am reading this right, but are/were you using Menzerna Final Touch Glaze under Zaino?

Sorry to hear about your experience at the dealer with your finish.

Kapinn, I only use the Vintage for my cars, and friends and family. I would never use it to detail a car I'm getting paid for, cause if I did, and Zymol found out.... well, it wouldn't be good. As others have said, I believe you lose your free refill rights if they find out you're using it for commercial work. I guess i should probably look into this sometime soon. It would be nice to be able to use it on for-hire cars.

I do very part time detailing work for hire. And I can honestly say I haven't used the Vintage on a car I've been paid to do.

gmblack3a- Yup, i have been using MFTG under Z5 and Z2 a few times. It hasn't been long enough to really know if it cuts down on Z's durability or not, but dang, it looks good.

Picus- You're moving your shop?

So if you can't use Vintage for commercial use, how do the guys that use it commercially do it, some sort of special license? If so, blargh...

SuperBee, I'm moving my house. Too much going on right now to spend $1800 on wax, but I'll probably do it shortly after the move. :)

Bee, It is very possible that applying a glaze under zaino is not allowing the zaino to bond to the paint. Maybe thats why you are not getting a clean wash at the touchless. :nixweiss

I haven't done the MFTG under Z on my own cars. :)

You can use it commercially, however, you need to be licensed/approved/knighted/elected/blessed, whatever by Zymol. Or so I hear.
