The Ultimate 1-Step Showdown!

Conclusion:

If you work on a wide variety of paint systems and require consistent performance, take the plunge and use BLACKFIRE SRC Compound.

The best product for you!
Awesome Review Todd!
My goto 1 step is BF SRC Finishing polish. But I have an employee who LOVES SRC compound with the flex3401 and gets awesome results one stepping cars with it. And with a Rotary I can easily produce a swirl free finish(on most paints) with it! Glad to see it did so well in the test!

todd your write-ups have always been superb in my book... but this one has to be your creme-de-la-creme of write ups. very detailed, concise and in plain so even a newcomer can understand language. think my next purchase will have to be blackfire as that is my finish products of choice as well. thank you for your expertise.

Definitely a nice write up Todd. I saw that you had posted this but was "out" for a while.

I am a little surprised you didn't include M205 as that has been great for me at times. But I'm sure then you would have to include a host of other as well.

I'm hearing that SPF needs to be used a with forced rotation buffer(3401, rotary) for the abrasives to work correctly. It may not deliver a 4 in cutting or a 6 in gloss with the 3401, but the results will be honest. With a rotary, that's where it's at with SPF. With a traditional random orbital(Rupes, PC, etc..), it may tend to fill a lot more. Not sure how true this is?

Can someone do some testing to determine whether this is in fact true?!

Just paid the $70 for a liter of this stuff and all I have is a GG6 buffer. Would rather sell it now when it is unopened :(.

Send me your bottle and I will test it for you free of charge

Todd, did you use the same speeds for cutting and finishing with all the products? If so, what speeds did you use?

I wouldn't worry too much about this! Abrasives NEVER care what type of machine they are worked with! They are not intelligent and self-aware, instead they respond to FRICTION OVER TIME.

A DA polisher, because it has less FRICTION, will require more TIME to fully break down the abrasives. Maintain pressure and operate at a higher speed to achieve the same results by breaking down the abrasives.

Also keep in mind that people who primarily use a rotary polisher for results are going to get better results with a rotary; people who primarily use a DA polisher for results are going to get better results from a DA. They are two different machines.

Great work Todd! Ive never used Pro Polish II, but I just used some Pro Polish and I was really impressed with it's ease of use. It just goes to show, there is likely to be a compromise when using any product in 1 step

I was very impressed with Pro Polish II. Honestly I was impressed with every product in this test, which made it fun to do and easy to write about!

Todd, any chance you are going to update the polish comparison chart with some of these new products?

Wow, Todd this is a great review. As an emerging enthusiasts I really enjoy comparisons like this and am looking forward to more in the future. It answers many of the questions I have when looking into new products and shows how different ones would suit different needs/styles as well as providing insight on how to match up the right product to different applications.

Awesome test, Todd! Well, Sonax Perfect finish is the most used polish in my arsenal since last summer, now you guys know why!

I have a very good contact with Sonax Sweden and it looks like I am going to Germany and visit the Sonax HQ and see the factory and some training as well.

Just getting around to reading the results

Very indepth comparison. Thanks for posting Todd

Kinda disappointed how my Menz PF stacked up. That is such a go to for me on the 1 step corrections

You got me thinking about the blackfire compound. A bit pricey though

curious how m205 stacks up in this discussion.... I smell a REMATCH!
