The Shine Insititue Detailing Class, Sept 11th and 12th, Richmond VA

Would love to see one of these in the San Antonio, Austin, Dallas area. Who wants to sponsor one around here? I'm petrified to try polishing my old, classic Porsche without some OJT first.

Hey guys-
Been following this thread and am wondering why this thread isn't OVERLOADED with messages of "I'll be there!"
I don't even know if the class is fully booked or what, but I wanted chime in with support for such a wonderful opportunity. FYI- nobody asked my opinion, but WOW!

For those of you hoping to see this class in your area... JUMP INTO THIS ONE BEFORE IT'S GONE!
You never know when a high caliber "learning opportunity" like this will come along again.

What is not coming through in the "ad" for this class is Todd's depth of knowledge pertaining to all aspects of detailing.
Although I have met Todd only once (2009 SEMA), we have spent untold hours on the phone. I can confidently say that you will learn a lot from this class, even if you already know a lot!

Are you a full-time detailer?
If yes, then you should know that Todd's working rate exceeds virtually every detailer I know of (and I know quite a few). :money:
How does this help you? Glad you asked!

Of course, Todd has to be VERY good at what he does to justify such high fees.
This is especially the case in the uber-competitive Florida detailing market. :Swordfight: Lets face it- there are a lot of darned good detailers out there. But Todd has figured out a way to "sell" himself, not his service. He's pretty confident, but not overly so. There is a way to sell using confidence, and by spending a day or two with him in this class, I think you may get a bit closer to understanding how to sell yourself in a similar manner.

Already proficient with machine polishing?
Or do you only think you are? There's a BIG difference! :-?

KNOW what it feels like not having to worry about how a polishing session will turn out.

LEARN how even a slight adjustment to machine speed, applied pressure, or buffing liquid will affect your polishing session. :-B

UNDERSTAND why these adjustments (and more) actually work! :hurray:

Sound good?
Then why aren't you planning to attend? If you are serious about learning... about running the machine... about selling yourself... make the trek.

Spend the time to learn.
Spend the time to get to this class.
Spend your dough on this class before buying ONE MORE THING!

One last thing- this class is nearly FREE! In my opinion... Todd would be making more money if he just booked another detail with the time it'll take him to prepare, travel to, and teach this class. I urge you to get in on a good thing! JUST DO IT!! <:-P

Very Well Said Kevin :-B

I too, don't understand why there hasn't been alot more response to this thread  I have never spoken with Todd personally, but the guy puts off a positive vibe that really rubs off on others @-)

I went far to many years charging peanuts for my hard labor. I would charge a flat fee for every car I worked on. 90% of the time I would end up on the short end of the stick ~X( I just wasn't really sure or had the confidence to raise my prices accordingly. I was afraid I would offend many and in the process lose there business entirely X_X

Quite the oppisite has actually occured (even in these tough economic times) sure, I have lost two or three that have thought I was off my meds again, but on the flip side I have gained a 1/2 dozen others who really appreciate quality craftsmanship :blacksmith:

Its very hard to give 100% when deep down you know your only going to be paid at a 50% rate :out:

Epilouge...If you are in this business full-time or even part-time it will be a mistake to miss this class. I personally gaurantee you will take away alot more knowledge then the meager cost of addmission. This class will help you seperate yourselves from the other 99% in your region. I could not believe how cheap the cost of this 2 day class was being offered for. I believe Todd is trying to get some kinda tax break for charitable contributions Da Rules!

Even if your just a novice who enjoys mantaining there own rides (or at least the technical understandings) this class would be money well spent/invested :money:

I see there is a hands-on session. Can I bring my antique car ?

Sure you can bring it! When we do hand's on, it is a perfect chance to work with a professional that will help you dial in a system to keep your car looking it's best!

Anybody else having problems w/ the sign-up for both days where the site charges you shipping on the 2-day event of $15?

I was going to sign up--but not if the system charges me $15 shipping for the class :)

If PAC can find a way to ship my carcuss across Country for $15 then count me in :Frosty:

Just saw the post about the shipping charge.
It has been fixed.
Our apologies for any inconvenience.

I will be absolutely shocked, flabbergasted and left scratching my head in confusion if this does not fill up or even exceed capacity.

I mean look at who is putting this on (PAC) and who is leading this (T. Helme & B. Brice). Then factor in that it is practically being given away and it really seems like a no brianer to me?
