The insurance company sent out an adjuster to the shop yesterday. I got the call today that the car is going to be fixed. I haven't had a chance to talk to the shop yet, but it'll be interesting to see why they chose to fix it instead of totalling it out.

Well, maybe it wasn't quite as bad as it first looked, or maybe the adjuster was REALLY impressed by the shine/pop/reflections ;)
I hope it all works out to YOUR satisfaction!!

That may very well have something to do with it. I've maintained the car so diligently that since everything looked practically brand new, it might have influenced them a bit.

Anyway, I talked to the shop and they said the adjuster's estimate was $5,600 and they were allowing a $1,400 'window' up to $7K for new damage discovered during repair (any additional costs need to be justified though, so much for the limited slip diff I was looking at ;) ).

Thats great. Be careful though. Lots of body shops do fair quality work for insurance claims from what I have seem in my area.

Don,
I got the impression that you "know" the body shop & are confident of the quality of their work. I hope they live up to your expectations :kneel
Too bad about the LSD ;)

Not to worry, the shop is owned by a family friend and both my aunt and her son in law work there. All of my family's cars go straight there for any body repairs without question.

And if that weren't enough, over 65% of their business comes from my insurance company State Farm, (they are a State Farm preferred body shop which means that if you drop your car off there to get it fixed, there are no questions asked AND SF refers business to them). Plus State Farm guarantees all repair work for life, which means if there is a complaint in workmanship, SF makes the bodyshop refix the car until it's done right (too many bad reviews from customers means State Farm pulls the shop's "preferred" status, and they stop sending business their way). My shop knows better than to bite the hand that feeds them, so they make double sure to do the best work possible for SF, so the insurance company continues to send them business. So either by virtue of family or self preservation, I know I'm going to have the best work possible performed on the car.

BTW...all NEW parts have been ordered, no 'used' parts are going to be involved. :bigups

Well, all that should help put your mind at ease about their work!! :bigups

Please keep us posted on progress. :)

Neat! With all that painting is it going to stay Yellow? Just curious - I like the color though.
