The reason we live where you vacation......

I'm not much of a hot weather person. My favorite vacations have been snowmobile trips to Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.

Living in Minnesota most of my life, winter isn't so bad in the north. You just have to find a way to enjoy it......

Here is my son and I playing on a lake near Park Rapids, MN.


This is the morning the wife and I left on a trip to raise money for Special Olympics of MN. It was -27* where we were. ;)


Yep, we ride when it is cold out, too.......

We also vacation on Lake Winnibigoshish in northern MN for some relaxing and fishing.

Last year, we went to Bayfield WI and took the ferry over to Madeline Island.

Some other interesting things about Minnesota........
Minnesota is home to Brainerd International Raceway with it's famous dragstrip and road courses. The straight on the road course us one mile long!:rockon

Soudan Mine tour. You can go down an elevator 1/2 mile below the surface. Pretty cool. Soudan Underground Mine State Park: Minnesota DNR


I did get the opportunity to go deep sea fishing when we in the Florida Keys and had a blast. The place we were staying even cooked up our fresh catch for dinner that night! :cool: I think us "northerners" vacation down south because we can't take the heat that much and we like to see the seasons change. When we go to SEMA, I love coming home and seeing green grass and trees. :D

The desert environ is comfortable, except for the dust (don't own a black car!). I need mountains. I need open roads. I need impressive geographical formations/canyons/mesas. I/we, would never move back to the SE. Prowling all of FL just didn't impress me. Sorry. I don't like to live in a sauna. It was truly miserable for us.

We have some friends who recently moved back to Naples, FL, and they just loooove it. I guess they're right, and we are wrong.

You stay there. We like the big/open/rugged vistas, with curvy roads that can be enjoyed at high speed. Running into a hoard of grasshoppers is just as bad as Love Bugs though. ICK.

Naples is beautiful area. My best friend lives there. Will probably end up there later.

However, it cannot match the food that is possible along the coast and of course during January and February outside activities can be limited in the mountains.

Agree. I am just saying the large influx of tourists (compared to other neighboring states) means a lot more state income to offset the need for an income tax.

Of course, property taxes, sales tax on vehicles, etc. are other ways. When you have desirable locations, you can tax people coming in.
