The professor, "Wax does layer!"

Fellas, Bad news. Late this evening the professor relayed to me from a messenger that he "under legal pending obligations" cannot release the test results. It appears this follows normal red tape channels when any kind of scientific study is done. However, he assured me as soon as he can release his findings, I'll be one of the first to know. His secretary said, there is no time-line.



He did say, "Wax can be layered.":xyxthumbs
 
UPDATE- Fellas, I'm sorry to report the Professor's findings will not be available for some time. It appears to be about money and one very well known company has a specific wax that was discovered to have damaging ingredients. Can you read between the lines? I don't know what else to say. I feel let down because I was promised insider information. Anyhow, as soon as I hear, you will be the first to know.:xyxthumbs

Guess this is the only post that makes sense on this thread... It's weird when guys who like cleaning cars try to be funny :shocked

I understand that getting his findings from that island on the middle of nowhere would be difficult, maybe he can ask Giligan to make a distress fire or a make shift raft? The captain must be pretty pissed that Ginger won't let him in on the secret.
 
[NO] You cannot layer wax to BUILD a better shine or protection, Once you have achieved the maximum potential from the paint all you can do is maintain proper protection [WAXING / SEALANT]



[YES] You can layer wax when your ensuring proper COVERAGE of the product your using for protection on the vehicle usually 2 thin coats should be enough
 
My vote says you can, as long as there are no solvents, or cleaners......Wax can bond to wax......

Kind of like putting on layers of lotion.......Ya ever go to the beach and "reapply?"

Unless 3M or Dupont says you cant, I will re-apply frequently.....;)
 
Exactly Patrick! I was thinking the same thing. Wax does bond to wax, just like lotion on your skin. If you re-apply lotion to your hands, what happens? You add more protection and the same applys to your clear coat.
 
Lotion and wax the same???

You have to reapply the lotion as it is absorbed by your skin and you sweat it off, you dont reapply lotion to build up layers but mearly to resume the cover of the lost lotion......

I believe the shear stress you apply to the existing wax when attempting to layer removes the bottom layer, making layering of wax next to impossible.

But I am open to other suggestions.
 
1. The wax you apply is not strong, thus just applying it createsa small enough shear to disrupt the bottom layer. Run your finger through wax lightly and it builds up on the end of your finger - similar to applying?? Wax is not very resistant to applied forces, even if they are small.....



2. Layering is to put layer upon layer upon layer. You have to reapply lotion because it is physically not there anymore.
