The new jeep wrangler released yesterday.

Same overall good looks but they really didn`t up the ante anywhere. I guess with no competitors, you don`t have to. I`d like to see real door frames all around and an integrated roll cage that allowed soft tops to use roof racks without resorting to the silly cages. The dash is terrible, the main instrument cluster is a straight ripoff of a VW instrument cluster. Looks good, but doesn`t belong in an open top Jeep. And I guess we`ll have to wait one more year for the unicorn diesel version. That seems to be a running Chrysler joke.

With 3.0 eco diesel rams being shipped again it is some sort of possibility

They got there own batch of engines being owned by fiat and are trying to get them out there although they are very slow to get any one to care in the US. All the past haven’t had much success. Expensive parts. Very low dealer knowledge how to fix them. Hard to swallow when they weren’t showing a serious improvement in MPG

They have the plugs in the floor for a reason. They aren’t a luxury vehicle it’s an off road vehicle that was made to get new buyers to think it’s a family vehicle. They have just catered to the person that really even doesn’t need a wrangler just cause SUV stuff sells

They don`t mind selling them for a luxury price tho.

Jeeps today are absolute garbage. I`ll import an old LR 90 defender and restore it for half the price.

Over $40,000 for current models that is overpriced for what it is, yes off-road they are some of the best but on road not so much and most don’t take them off-road. So the price just boggles the mind. On road they are noisy, with road and wind noise, ride stinks for on road purpose they are great for off-road. I know people say that this is made for off-roading but 98% of people don’t use it for intended purposes so why so much for a new one that is one of the worst on road riding vehicles.

I`m not sure I`d call them garbage, I had a JK for four years and it needed nothing other than oil changes and tire rotations. The ride is bad, but it isn`t anywhere as bad as an old CJ or YJ. The noise is the killer though. Even with a hardtop they are noisy. Install any offroad capable tire and it is game over. I doubled up and installed a cargo cage for hauling my kayaks...it sounded like demons were chasing me. Mine never got any real offroad action, dirt/gravel was it. And for those reasons I sold it, crazy resale value. I do miss it a bit.

So...noisy, terrible ride quality and (you left out) horrible fuel economy...yup sounds like garbage to me. If you needed something that off road capable on a daily basis, then yes I can see how it would be valuable, but like you said more that 98% will never see off road.

It was more than the ride, I had 3 close friends all had the pentistar V6 (2012-2016 manual and auto) when they were new. All of them had issues from the tachometers crapping out to roof leaks to premature rust issues. The ride quality has always been horrible with Jeeps, thats something you should expect when owning a wrangler but actual failures and leaks is just poor/typical QC from fiat/chrysler.

I personally cannot stand FCA, their quality is subpar to say the least and this is coming from someone who dissembles cars top to bottom the only other that I`ve seen QC issues like this is Tesla. Really shame for the high resale values they command.

That all said I love the Jeep Grand Cherokee`s, they are an excellent product!

When I was time for a new daily; I wanted something somewhat rugged with real 4x4. So that means trucks or a Jeep. My only real candidates were a Frontier Pro 4X or a Tacoma Off Road.

...But the Jeep dealer was right next to the Toyota dealer - so I looked at Jeeps for giggles. No. Nope. Never. What you get for your dollar is pretty poor.

These things sell for one reason - people like how they look. These things start at over $30k in real life for a 4x4 - and that`s bare bones. I think I paid low 30s for my Pro 4X loaded - with every option Nissan makes + $600 bed cover included. I`m pretty happy with my choice.

Nice truck! The thing about Jeep pricing, and Nissan too, as well as most American brands is you can`t take the sticker price seriously. Dealers discount them by thousands. Toyota and Honda you might get a thousand or two off sticker. It really is a silly game that makes it difficult for consumers.

Yeah. Think I got $5k off the truck. Of course dealer right near my house selling same truck w/o that discount

I love those dealerships that act like those discounts are made up. When I was buying the Vette, there were dealers discounting by 10k. I went in to a dealer that was close by in hopes of working out a deal, I showed them the ads, they spent about 30 minutes telling me that it was a trick, I`d never get that deal, blah blah blah.

I had been thinking about the idea of trading off my Camaro the last year or more and had been looking at the idea of owning a Jeep. I just can`t stand the looks of the 4 door Wrangler. The Rubicon is just priced to ridiculous, the 2 door starting at close to $40k I would rather buy a pickup and have the ability to haul something rather than tow. I have did a little research on other Jeep models but it is getting hard to wrap my head around some of the prices they fetch for what you get.
