The MOTHER of Tire Care Sprays?

I usually do the same but the thought raises a question.

Are some tire dressings harsh enough to damage the wheel finish?

I've never used a tire dressing that has the potential to harm a wheel's finish. But like anything else, I would recommend using the product for its intended use and if any over spray occurs on a surface that it's not intended for, to thoroughly wipe it off to be on the safe side. ;)

got any pics of the audi TT?

Soon. :bigups

What's with the rim? Is that some kind of dust shield between the rim and brake rotor? I would think that it might affect the cooling of the brakes.

It's a brake dust shield. The brakes are still cooled via cooling ducts plus the air flowing underneath the car. :bigups
