The most durable sealant: ICE!

So, as some of you may know, we had some sleet/freezing rain/snow here in Long Island. Last night it was just some sleet, nothing too hard. Today however, there was a thick layer of ice all over the grounds and, of course, the cars :)











After the sun came out, the ice came off fairly easily. I obviously didn't touch the paint, I just broke the ice on the windows and the ice just came sliding down by itself.
 
My car was coated in ice.



I just let the sun do its work and came back to safely remove the sliding chunks...I didn't want them to slide over the paint and create marring.
 
For a second from the title of this thread I was worried that it was going to about TW Ice products being the most durable, which would bring out the Zaino advocates and devolve from there.
 
I left the ice on the roof of my wagon and the whole thing slid off when I hit the brakes pulling into my driveway. All I could thing about was the paint!! :eek: But it looks like it slid off on a layer of water. I stayed of the parkway today because some SUV's had huge chunks flying off 20 feet into the air and back down! :eek:

On a brighter note it was great driving my Subaru Legacy in the ice :D

haha, thats exactly what I was thinking! :D



I guess that was no hope of getting in the car that day, huh?



Ive always noticed that people put the wiper blades up before an ice storm, I would worry that it would stretch the springs and they wouldnt apply enough pressure on the windshield. I could be thinking about that to much though. :nixweiss
 
HAHA I thought it was about TW ICE too... And I am actually having a "slow" moment because I was still waiting for Mike's explanation regarding it. :soscared:



As far as the wipers go, I questioned that same thing on this thread:

I used the title "durable sealant" to catch your attentions :) I guessed it worked, in an unpopular way though. You guys were probably ready to kill me if I said that TW ICE has the most durability out of all waxes and sealants :)



In reply to those who ask why the wipers are up, same reasoning as Coupe. If I had left my wipers on the windshield, the wipers would have been stuck to the windshield with a thick layer of ice.

Lol. My daughter thought it was a giant snow monster! So how do you deal with removal of that much snow, like on runnerbl's truck.

Obviously the solution is to move to Hawaii, hifiveo.
 
I hate this weather. This week in Pa it was 65 and I actually uncovered my 350Z and took it for a spin...Now this...:bawling:



I was outside trying to shovel today and the stuff is like concrete. The only good news it that it should be warm by the end of this week and could hit 70 by Friday....:woot2:
 
If you don't put your wipers up and they ice up you can rip the rubber apart if you try and take them of the windshield. Most of the auto parts stores around here were ALL out of the most common sized wiper blades this weekend from all the people that had to replace :) It was a brisk business for them!
