The Most Difficult Detail You can Do

Coming home from a show I got hit with a rock and it knocked all the clear coat off and the base coat also.

No way to spot clear coat without leaving a ring so I sanded the whole fender and mask it off.

I'm going to shoot it this afternoon and wet sand and buff it tomorrow then after a few weeks put on DuraGloss again.

I guess you could call this the ultimate detail not only time consuming but costly.

Aahh the joy of owning a show car. If it was my daily driver I would just dab a little touch up paint on it and buff it out.

At 10 feet and 10 mph it would look good but when you have people judging your car such things just won't cut it.
Just thought I would share my good fortune.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I just did my first touchup job with burshes and it did not look as good as I expected. I am getting paint cans today to do the job right.

Well I just came in from my garage and turned on my computer and found these posts.
Sorry I did not take any pictures of it because I never thought about it.
After sanding it really looked bad.
I just finished shooting it and in a few hours I will pull the masking tape off. I could take a picture of it freshly painted.
I"m going to have to buff it out but it looks pretty good just very slight orange peel but better than a factory paint job. I put on 4 coats of the clear

............

Thats a shame but if it has to be right then it has to be right I see your into Duragloss thats one hell of a product growing in popularity with my fellow detailers here in the UK.
