The End of Megs APC+

How does D101 APC compare to APC+?

D103 (APC+)
  • low-foaming
  • orange scent
  • excellent for hot water carpet extractors
  • Almost seems to have some Degreaser in it

D101 (APC)
  • Foaming
  • Contains Fabric Softeners and Optical Brighteners
  • great for cleaning and reconditioning all interior surfaces

Just got off the phone with Meguiars moments ago and this is 100% true. The guy I talked to said that there were other products to be discontinued as well on the pro line: V112, D150, and D157. He said the reason were because of the new restrictions, but said he would definitely let our voice be heard. So if you want to call and give your opinion about how they shouldn't get rid of it, call them at 1-800-347-5700. If enough of us call maybe they will fight to keep it for us!

This is what I suspected. It was VOC or other similar regulations.

Yep. He said it was so close to the regulations they decided to just drop it all together. Hopefully enough people call (1-800-347-5700) to let them know how much we like the product and at least try to tweak it to pass.

I was told today, it is being re formulated to keep cost down, it was getting to expensive to make.
This is from a person who works for them

I hope you are right. I bought a 5 gallon just in case.

For what it's worth the guy I talked to said that standard Meguair's APC D101 was replacing APC+ D103. He specifically said that D101 didn't have the lifting agents D103 has.

I got half a gallon left. Looks like I need to go buy some more. At least this shows Meguiars is on their game and willing to take away years of development off the shelves for health reasons

Michael Stoops- Unfortunately, even though you guys may be using a lot of APC+, in the grand scheme of things we just aren't selling that much of it (it's not even close to be a "huge selling product" as Tom Shine Time Risk suspects) and with the cost of raw materials going up, it's just not a profitable product for us in its current guise. Because of that, we are discontinuing the 1gal and 55 gallon sizes but will still have 5 gallon packaging available. Whether or not a replacement is in the works is too early to say. I wish I had some better news for you guys, but this is straight from our Pro Products head marketing guy, so there it is.

Thanks for the update Paul.
