the end of klasse sg

I, too, have pretty much given up on SG.

First few times I used it I had no problems. Actually, the first year was awesome.

The following spring, started over the same way I had the year before. Clayed, prepped to remove swirls, etc, washed, AIOx2. Looked great.

Put on the SG and ran into the dreaded smearing. Took forever to get the "oil" look off. Persisted all summer. I think it was the humidity factor, because I tried *everything* I could think of and that was suggested.

This spring, decided to try somthing new. Spring prep as usual. AIO and then PUPP. Loved it. More layers of PUPP, this stuff comes off *really* nicely, and looks almost like the AIO/SG combo topped with Souveran paste did.

Bought some PUGE, since I ran out of what I was using before. My favorite QD so far - makes a much bigger difference visually than anything I've used.

I will say I don't think the AIO/PUPP is as durable as the AIO/SG combo. But it looks a better to me, and I've not even tried topping it. Plus no problems removing it so far.

I do get a bit remoresful seeing the 1/2 full bottle of SG and I catch myself thinking "if only you weren't so damn inconsistent..."

blue skies,

Andrew

detailbarn: I'm curious. What made you think about putting the SG in the fridge??:idea

I'm just crazy like that , it was just an idea that I had. Some times they are good and sometimes there not so good. :D

thanks for everyones input on the klasse sg, and all those ideas and different ways of application. but in all honesty, considering the amount of cars i detail, and when time factors in, its not worth the pain, hassle, or frustration... am i wrong?

Sorry, but....

WRONG:D

IHMO the protection afforded by the K twins far outweighs the "hassles" in its application.

Looks aren't that bad either!

I second that , that is the reason I'm giving it another go around! :xyxthumbs

but there are other sealants out there that offer comparable protection if not better, without the hassles.. right? ex... exp, fmj

Don't feel bad, NavindraLR, I have a full bottle of SG sitting on my shelf too that I can't stand. It has been demoted to chrome wheel duty from now on!:xyxthumbs

Heh heh, just to give a balance after Gonzo's post (nah, we're not :argue and hey, I like the K twins and think SG is as easy to use as anything this side of Souveran)---

NavindraLR- Like I said the first time, if the frustration, hassle, and pain (your words) outweigh the benefits of KSG as you perceive them, then quit using it and don't look back. It's not like you can't enjoy your car/protect its finish/have a nice life without using KSG :D

FWIW, besides trim and wheels, these days I'm only using it on the MPV and it's not like my other vehicles are suffering ;) And truth be told, on *our* vehicles, Accumulatorette and I prefer the look of other products.

Come on, folks- this is supposed to be *fun* and NavindraLR's not having fun using KSG. Guess this is another example of why I think of myself as the Autopian Heretic at times :o I just don't see the point of struggling with products that don't work for you. Now if somebody said that "no polishes work for them" we'd have to take a different view of it!

OK, who's next? I know somebody's gonna say NavindraLR oughta still keep working with the KSG :D

One quick trick for those who get streaks using SG and WOO:

If you're using WOO, then most likely you're using an applicator, wiping on (thin coating), then wiping off.

If you see streaks when wiping off, immediately go back over the area again with the applicator (don't reapply SG to the applicator - just wipe the 'pre-moistened' applicator over the area), then immediately wipe again with your buffing towel.

Additionally, I've found that using 100% cotton to wipe of the SG is easier and gives a more complete wipe-down. In my experience, the MF sometimes simply pushed the SG around, rather than removing the excess/unbonded material.

The above two 'tricks' yield near-perfect results on the black Benz. (Yes, I have experienced the streaking in the past, but not since WOO and rewiping if streaked)

Hope this is useful.

Here's a thought/question: How old are the bottles of KSG that you folks are having problems with? I too had better luck with no streaking when I first started using the KSG. This summer I had some streaking issues, but I could probably point the blame finger at a few factors.

Also, shake those bottles GOOD before using the product!
