many dont like using prewax cleaner to remove old wax because the are abrasive.

thus, some like to wash there cars with dawn dishwashing soap (original formula). dawn does not have any abrasives, just a simple a simple degreaser that removes old wax when used as a car wash soap.

ive never useed it but am looking foward to trying it out, what do you guys think about this?

There are 42,465 threads about using Dawn on cars. Please do a search for this. You'll find more posts than you'll ever be able to read; it's been hashed, re-hashed, and hashed again.

Most pre wax cleaners, clean via a chemical process, not abrasively. I just dont see a purpose for using Dawn. It was something Zaino recommended using prior to that line of products, and has spilled over to the detailing rituals of SOME..........

It hasnt been proven that Dawn removes a high quality sealant anyway. Your much better off using a product designed for sealant removal, such as a chemical cleaner or polish, and keep the Dawn off the more sensitive trim or other exterior pieces. I dont believe theres any short term damage to those pieces if used a few times, but why bother?

Nothing like a gentle wash, gentle clay and polish/cleaning, followed by a users favorite sealant to bring out the best in the paint.

Remember that Dawn is designed to sheet water and not bead so you dishes dry with out water spots. Most people think that if water sheets you have removed the wax/sealant but really Dawn is just doing what it was designed to do -- sheet water and prevent water spotting.

Depends. I visit my sister in PA, she asks me to wash her truck. It had not seen a car wash all summer. I break out the Dawn and hot water to remove layers of grime, worked very, very well. However, thats a rare case and in general I don't use Dawn unless the vehicle has been neglected

I'm new here, but a Zymol rep told me the best way to remove all products on a car before detailing is to wash the car from top to bottom using 2 gallons hot water, .25 cup of amonia and .25 cup of nonsoftening laundry soap. It seems to do a great job.

ah yes, Dag Nasty and sick of it all

I havent really heard much new stuff on epitaph or fat, but I seem to have quite a few on them, Naked Raygun, pegboy and circle jerks are some all time favs also. You are alot closer to a constant flow of good shows, the last good show I went to was Pennywise in like 98 in Cincy, now I have missed quite a bit but in those days I could just drop what I was doing to hit one up...the good old days

Probably the best way is to put some alcohol in the water and wash it that way.

Agreed. I also carry a spray bottle that is 50/50 water and alcohol to do the same if necessary.
