The dangers of mobile detailing :( and a Chevy Silverado

I was out in the country and about to wash the truck when I was attacked by a bee last Tuesday. It looked so bad by wednesday afternoon but I waited until this afternoon to take a picture of it.

Anyways....

After wash and clay treatment.

Exterior after

AIO with the PC on 5 except on the roof because rain started coming down for about 35 min.

Afterwards the sun was too hot so I used VM (PC on 5) on the roof.

EX+P to seal the whole car

tried AIO on the bumper but didn't help (neither did VM) so I used Hi Temp's Grape tire dressing - that worked perfect as you can see. They were used on the tires/wheel wells as well. :D

I know I am not a great picture taker, but all the after picures were taken in the wrong diel mode - somehow the auto mode was turned off. The pictures are huge and somewhat off.

I work for the Owner's wife as a massage therapist. Husband was away on a business trip and she wanted to surprise him with a clean truck. A friend of hers who sees the truck regularly thougth that I repainted the truck but unfortunately the difference is not well portraid in the pictures. Oh well.....

Looks great it is tough doing those large trucks. I look forward to doing someones car after cleaning my two trucks.

I am doing 2 more silverados - one on wednesday, one on thursday (husband/wife).

black Caddy on tuesday.

tdekany, where in Fairfax are you located? I am in West Springfield. How much would you normally charge to detail a full sized truck like the Silverado in those pics?

Very nice work! AIO + EX-P looks as good as I expected it to!

Sucks about the bee sting. I got nailed by a wasp once. The smell of Eagle's 20/20 Glass Cleaner seemed to set them off since they ignored me until I started cleaning the windows. :(

As far as all the big SUVs and trucks go, welcome to my hell!

I bet that truck looks better than when they bought it. What an impressive detail!

Two weeks ago I was trimming back some maples fairly early in the morning when I was stung by a yellow jacket. I must have disturbed a hive because in a moment they were all over me and I had several stings. I finally jumped in my car and drove off to work only to discover one was in my pants. I swatted at my pant legs and must have been swerving all over the road. I was stung on that leg as well, and later when vacuuming the car found the bee. I have more respect for bees now and plan on being more careful.

A little off topic....

Nothing can beat my yellow jacket story. My family and another were camping up near Payson, AZ at Woodscanyon Lake. Late that first night, one of the kids in the other family woke everyone up when he threw up...LOUDLY! Anyway, it quickly spread but as of the last day, I still was feeling good so I went to go shooting with the others who had already recovered (24 hour thing, I guess). After firing a few shots with a 12 guage, nausea hit me hard. Both ends. :( I threw up, then went over to a log to take care of the other end and sat down with my pants around my ankles. Next thing I know, my right cheek has a sharp pain and I stood up yelling. I had sat down on a yellow jacket nest that was in the log. I got stung four times on the butt and the back of my legs. To top it off, I threw up again and had the trots for the rest of the night.

I live off of 123 right by GMU. I'll be detailing in Springfield Tuesday at 10:00 am

The 2 other silverados will cost $200 each. this one I wanted to do for free for her since she has been getting me as many clients as she can (Massage). She wanted to pay so I said $150 and she gave me a check for $200.

Koons charges $300 I found out from the husband who's car I am doing wednesday. He had it done a few times in the past by them so I am curious what he will think of my work.

It is a very funny story, but thinking about what actually happened to you - I wouldn't want to be in that shoe ever.

Actually I think that I kind of caught the bee ""half way""

In any case, it did get some venum in me.

I saw another bee just around the time I was finishing claying the truck and got it wet enough that it couldn't fly anymore and landed on the grass. It is now trying to reincarnate into some form.:D :D :D

From now on I will shoot first and ask questions later.

Thanks for the compliment!

Sorry about the bee stings. I hate bees now instead of respecting them
