The Best Washmitt!

I love my ExcelDetail heavy sheepskin mitt. It's very thick and soft, which makes for a very pleasureable washing experience :xyxthumbs

I'm still curious about the ultra-heavy one... :)

Meg's Ultra Plush are what I have, from what I talked with ADS.com, the Ultra Plush are the best selling, create more suds than normal and are at an okay price. Depends on your preference and how you use em.

unless it was a random mitt i bought, i would stay away from the vroom sheepskin mitt. i found little black pine bristles in it, which will cause scratching.

I have been using Viking 100% cotton mitts for some time. I bought mine several years ago directly from Viking...I am not sure if Viking still makes them. I have never found them at retail stores. These mitts are made in the U.S.A. Most of the "chenille" mitts are made in Asia which I have found are not 100% cotton.

Hmm... could be bias though. ive seen a lot of bigw and other places only stock ultra-plush and microspun but dont stock the ol genuine lambwool (or had but ran out and didn't reorder). i went to motoquipe and they say synthetics have come a long way and are high tech etc etc, but all i really wanna know is if they are comparable or better than the ol lambwool. they wouldn't give me a straight answer.

btw, some say microspun is crap because dirt is heeps hard to remove from the little fibres. can anyone comment on this and if so, does this happen in synthetic wool ultra plush aswell?

I think someone dropped it under a pine tree then because all 5 that I've bought have been stellar.

no... actually, there were a few members on here as well who experienced the same thing.

Really?

You have me scared now, the first two that i'm currently using have no defects. The other three are sitting in a bag in my closet. Are the particles imbedded or will a good brushing/washing get them out?

no, they were imbedded deep into the sheepskin stuck to the mitt. i literally picked each & every inch carefully & cautiously, and found them. there was a thread where a few people on here (forgot their names) had the same incident. after feeling the black pine bristle like needles, it scared the crap out of me! i don't want to even think what it would of done to the paint of my car.... :scared:

That is some scary shite...

how about dirt, greasy residues and normal stuff on a dirty car? do they get stuck in the microspun more than it would in the genuine sheepskin and what about the synthetic sheepskin?

Found those in 2 of my Vroom mits as well. Scared me because I have a black car! :scared:

I'm one of them. Here are a few links about this issue. Overall I think the vroom washmitts are ok, but nothing special either. Out of the 10 mitts I've used so far, 2 had this problem.

I've been very dissapointed lately about the selection of sheepskin washmitts in my area.

The turtle wax mitts are kind of stiff/course and bare looking. The eurrow mitts at Walmart are no better, and the vroom mitts have this pine needle problem. There seems to be a lot of inconsistency in washmitts. Like a fellow autopian has stated, you need to pick them like fruit.

Anyone try and can reccomend any kind of Microfibre Chenille mitt? Costco was selling some last month and I considrered trying them, then I heard voices in my head saying "the dirt will never come free from that deep pile of clingy MF thread."

Anyone?

im still wondering whats the difference between genuine and synthetic sheepskin. is it true that synthetic ones get bits stuck in them easier that make it harder to clean?
