The Best Washmitt!

As the title suggests, im after the best washmitt! after so many years of creating swirls and scratches with harsh sponges (and i mean harsh!), i thought id start clean and fresh on my new car making this first step very important to me.

I am deciding between meguiars lambwool and meguiars microspun ultraplush. which is better and if not these, what other ones are there, for what reasons and where can i get them?:drool:

best one is a pure australian sheepskin , megiuar's is synthetic .

Thanks but which do u mean? any recommended brands and where can we get em? some say synthetic wool washmitts are better all-rounders because they last longer.

Anymore recommendations? what do u guys use and why...

Check out www.detailersparadise.com and look for their 'thumbless sheepskin wash mitt'. I've been using these for a couple of years. A real top quality mitt - I haven't used anything better.

For a local purchase you can't beat the Eurow Sheepskin. Its only $4.99 at Wally World.

Synthetic mitts can mar automotive paint, it's happened many, many times. I wouldn't worry about how long a relatively inexpensive mitt will last, I'd worry about marring the irreplaceable paint. Unlike paint, mitts are another renewable resource, meant to be "consumed" by normal use just like carwash shampoo and clay.



FWIW, I got my sheepskin mitts from the Autopia store. Not the cheapest route but they work great and are holding up great after maybe a year of use.



Gotta use cotton chenille mitts for the "mitt balloon" technique with a foamgun though

Definitely sheepskin for me - I've used synthetic ones before but they (IMO) impart a lot more swirls than the sheepskin ones.

Not a mitt, but try a natural sea sponge. I have never had a problem with a sea sponge scratching paint. They always rinse completely clean because the pores are large and release dirt. TOL carries the really good sea sponges.

I have a few Eurow sheepskin and then I got a few of the new Meguiars Ultra Plush Wash mitts and I prefer the synthetic once over the sheepskin mitts everytime. They are just as plush, much lighter, doesn't have a thumb, dries faster and rinses cleaner too. And it doesn't scratch either.

agreed. i use to use a sm arnold synthetic mitt (plusher than the megs) and after a few uses it became hard and it no longer touches the paint. won't buy a synthetic mitt again....

Got a few mixed responses here, some say the synthetic one will bunch together after regular use adn cause marring, but then some say putting it in the clothes dryer will make it like new again. At this stage im leaning towards getting a genuine lambwool, but i really like the idea of not having to replace it so often and am not looking forward to seeing the leather rotting away. im stuck... :nixweiss

i have used my sheep skin wash mitt forever.....sometimes after im done washing and detailing, i just leave my sheepskin soaked for a week until i wash my car the following week....nothing has happened to it. I also toss them into my wahsing machine and let them air dry...i love my sheepskin...it just gets softer and softer the more i use it.

Target has excellent sheepskin washmits under the "Vroom" brand. They are 2x plush as the "eurow" ones at Wal-wort. They also cost about 2x as much, but when i was there last teim they didn't ring up right and i got 3 of them for 5 bucks a piece. They usualy run about 7. They are also one piece not all patched together like some lesser brands. Don't clean them with dish soap, it killed one of mine...

Yeah, mine are holding up fine despite far less than optimimum care It's not like they fall apart with a little neglect or anything....I've even used Dawn and even EFHI (!) to spot-clean some grease/tar that got on them, no problems at all.

I have, and in my opinion they are worthwhile. (at least the ones from home depot made by QEP)
