The best of the year?

Since there was a thread about the biggest let-down of a product you've purchased this year, how about one for the opposite? What product have you purchased this year that really blew your socks off?



I'd say for me it was Final Detail. It really blew me away and is much better than any of the other QD's I've used to date. Plus, it is so cheap!



I'm pretty impressed with #16 so far too, but haven't spent much time with it.
 
I can't think of anything that's "best" this year, but products like Einszett Paint Polish and ZFX have their significance. Aside from Finesse-It 2, I haven't used a polish that was so consistent in its results. And who would believe that a drop of ZFX could instantly change a polymer's structure? Amazing technology...
 
I have plenty of favorites and have been trying to selectively get myself down to the "best 1" in each required category. I've been purging the junk.



For products that are truly new to me this year and have really impressed:



  • 1Z GummiPflege Stick
  • P21S Windshield Wash Booster (re-formulated)
  • Kids 'N' Pets Stain & Odor Revover
  • Menzerna FP + IP
  • Makita 9227 CX :D
 
I've posted my LOSERS so now I'll post my WINNERS.





1. Einszett Paint Polish (green can) - Gets the BretFraz Award for "Polish Of The Year". Absolutely terrific polish that has taken the place of DACP in my arsenal. Works great with both PC and rotary. Only negative is its smell but with performance like this, I'll suffer.



2. Duragloss #901 shampoo - Amazingly sudsy, slippery shampoo. It surprised me with its great performance as much as the Duragloss polishes disappointed me. I like it better than my long time fave Eagle One shampoo and that says a lot coming from me.



3. Various Mothers products - I'd never had much experience with Mothers products until this year. No reason for that, just never got around to trying them. From Preserves protectant to their leather care products to the Clear Coat Wheel Polish to a few others, everything was consistently excellent. I'm really impressed.



4. Einszett Gummipfledge - Thanks to ZENHOG who gave me a sample, this stuff is terrific on door seals. Good thing I had it too as several detailing customers asked for it specifically. Not only a great niche product but fun to use as well.



5. Porter Cable 7428 rotary polisher - This should be in a category all by itself. It has revolutionized my detailing and allowed me to reach a higher level of performance. It had been a loooooong time since I'd last used one and I'm still shaking off the cobwebs. But it's an amazing tool that challenges me every time I use it. And every time I use it I feel I've become a better detailer. Thanks, Steve.
 
I became veryyyyy much into detailing this year so I could list a ton of products that outpreformed the store bought ones. The ones though that stuck out in my mind the most are:



-Klasse Twins

-S100 Paste Wax

-Marine Vinyl Protectant (low-med gloss, great protection...use it on all vinyl and rubber surfaces...not to mention cheap :D )

-Microfiber Towels

-Discovery of Autopia :D
 
The "Best of" this year includes:



1. Porter Cable Dual-Action Random Orbital Polisher - takes the fatigue out of polishing, nice addition to the arsenal this year.



2. einszett Perls Shampoo - still a new addition but so far it is a big winner, does everything you could want a shampoo to do plus some. Get some and try it because it is truly an amazing product this year.



3. Meg's Final Detail - like others have mentioned, great performer at a great price.



4. Concours Buffing Towel - I simply love using this towel!

And almost no dust! I had my first chance to use the 1Z polishes this weekend on a neglected '94 red Miata . . . There was practically no dust generated from the polishes, even when working them for an extended period. It's almost as though the polish remains wet as long as it's being buffed. Stop buffing, and the resdiue flashes over and is a breeze to remove.

I have to go with my PC 7336 , P21s wax<--love this stuff, Microfiber towels, Pinnacle black onyx tire gel<--and it was free too!. 1Z cockpit premium.

Most products and tools do not reach their true potential without the proper techniques and little tricks we share and learn here at Autopia. :bow
