The Best Factory Paint Jobs

I agree with you Blake. I have had a dark green Lexus coupe, a brown LS 400 and MANY white LS-430s and now an addition white RX-330. I have not seen ANY flaws in the paint on my cars.

Now, I will admit that I was not as aware of what to look for back with the brown LS but the rest of them, I have been VERY picky.

Acuras are usually pretty good, my 98 GSR has zero OP as does our 93 Legend, the 97 4runner has pretty bad OP around the entire car's lower doors.

Took a look at a recent Motortrend car show and the Mercedes, Lexus and Infinity cars had the best paint jobs- swirl/spiderweb free, good depth and shine. The flourescent lighting really revealed a lot on the other makes(as far as micro-marring) including the Acuras.

This Perceptron AutoSpect System is probably the reason why. This system is an in-line paint quality measurement system which offers the unique ability to perform crucial, qualitative measurements immediately after the applications of e-coat and primer. Most systems only measure quality of top coat.

At any rate I have an RX330 and the paint is slick as glass.

Toyota Motor Corporation has installed Perceptron AutoSpect (paint quality measurement system) in their Cambridge, Ontario, production facility to measure the paint quality characteristics of the new 2004 Lexus RX 330.

This luxury-brand SUV debuted at the 2003 North American International Auto Show and will be the first Lexus vehicle built in North America.

The plant has been outfitted with systems and software to maintain the same Japan-based Lexus quality.

"Quality pressures on this North American plant are extremely high and Lexus paint finishes are almost legendary," says Bill Corriveau, Perceptron senior vice president.

"Toyota chose AutoSpect for this high-profile vehicle because of AutoSpect's proven ability to validate a consistent, high-quality finish on every vehicle produced."

Toyota currently uses the AutoSpect system on multiple paint lines in Japan and Europe.

The web-based system provides the capability to check up-to-the-minute paint quality on vehicles being produced in plants anywhere in the world.
