Process was..

Wash with Meguiars Gold Class/clay with Meguiars clay

6 Passes of OC on a 4in orange LC pad at speed 6 :wall

2 Passes of OP on a 6in white LC pad at speed 6 to correct micro-marring

Fourstar UPP by hand to seal

Varios interior/exterior dressing cleaning...

This is a re-paint, the owner told me the guys name was Corey "swirls" and did this in a garage and buffed with a wool pad stuck to an angle grinder...doubt if its true, but damn was this clear hard to cut, halfway through my 2nd panel I started looking on Autopia for something OTC that had some more cut then my OC, made a trip to autozone/pep boys and couldn't find anything so I just dealt with making multiple passes, varying pressure and overlapping. Can't wait for my Hi-Temp order to come in, this is why I was hoping to do the 7 series next week and his sl500 this week but oh well.

This is my first inspection/walk around..

Of course it drizzled a tad on my way back home, but I want to give the car a once over and take some more pics in the morning anyway...

It is looking great.

Repaints are harder to correct in most cases. I can picture Mr. swirls buffing and sling compound and glaze every where. LOL

Your customers statement dose not surprise me It probably was done that way. I find a lot of body shops to be Medieval at best. They do a good job up to the sanding and polishing point and then fizzle.

Why even bother with a PC at the point? You definetly should look into a rotary.

BTW, very nice turn around that paint was butchered. What was the owners reaction?

Honestly, I didn't think it was going to be that bad...once I got into it I didn't want to test and tune with a rotary on this car.

Yes, my friend stopped by to look at my work and he had a puzzled look on his face when I put pea sized drop on my pad and smeared it onto the car...he said the guy literally splattered compound all over the car and went to work.

Great job, but you needed a rotary for something like that.

Yeah I know...I just haven't really used one and I'd like to perfect it before I use it on a customers car.

Yeah, those 7s have pretty hard paint. Cyclo, yellow cutting pads and OHC is a minimum requirement. :(

Looks like a substantial improvement though. :)
