Sorry, I actually thought you were making fun of him for using a fancy word.

Nope, I think Tort recognizes pretty much everyone under the age of 50 learned the definition of "plethora" from the movie The Three Amigos. :)

I'm just saying I personally have never seen anything really mute the metallic in paint, and I have pretty much used everything. :nixweiss

I've seen Collinite 476S do it on two occasions- the '94 Yukon's graphite metallic and the '00 Audi's silver. In both cases it *really* did mute the flake.

On the Yukon I don't care, so it still has 476S on it and under some light I think it just looks *so* blah..but not blah enough to switch to something else. But the Audi looked so bad that I've gone back to #16 and the flakes are back. There are a number of LSPs that I don't like on Audi silver, but none that muted the flake like that.

Oddly enough, the same 476S did *not* mute the flake on the '00 Blazer's pewter :nixweiss But when it does it, it's obvious..I'm not talking about some subtle effect that only, uhm...Autopians would notice.

Heh heh, when *I* knock my good ole 476S, you can bet it deserved it; I still really like that stuff.

You probably won't notice it unless you are comparing 2 different products side by side on the same panel.

Couldn't tell a difference on my own car when I started applying CMW. Maybe some of the heavier paste waxes do, I don't know. No idea how Collinite 476 compares to Meguiars #16, for example.

Ah, so that's why I am confused. I haven't seen the movie. :o

Not sure why you don't get it but here goes. When my car is in the extreme sun or hazy sun the paint is darker and the metalic is almost non existant with some products. My red metalic paint is awesome in the sun and really pops out at you with certain products.

The mazda speed metalic paints are incredible with the right products.

FYI when I orderd my JW products they told me not to get the CJ because it will mute the metalic ( their words) .

Can't have a Zanio thread with out the Old dog chiming in....

SUp dog..

My problem with the metalic muting & darkening was with DG 105 & AW and to some extent JW AP &AJ. On my car there is a huge difference that is extremely noticable.

Funny...105 and AW mute nothing on my car and actually enhance the metallic...looks exactly like Zaino to me (long time ex-Z user).
