Test version of my website

Changing the picture viewing to keep from having to use the 'back' button to go from thumbs to full sized pics and back. Front page is still the same, still trying to come up with a more modern looking layout.

You do need Java enabled to view....

Any comments welcome. :)

EDIT-the link has been changed because the main feedback I am looking for is the new way cars are displayed. No Java needed for this page.

That home page is always the hardest isnt it ? The picture tells the total story though Scott.....Clean, shiny, red, and its a Ferrari...........You may want to tone down the colors a touch though my friend, that red/blue scheme is rough on my eyes...course Im 43 too........maybe its just me! We'll see what others have to say....heres a couple more concerns....: Consider bold as a suggestion.

Detailing is the deep cleaning of the interior and exterior of the vehicle to a like new condition.

We also utilize clay detailing methods for removing imbedded dirt and paint overspray.

Now that I think about it, I would really like to see you throw that Blue Acura up on your HP, that pic is actually more stunning then the Ferrari!

Of course this is my $.02........

Patrick-my brother is looking at having a rotation of about 10 pictures for the home page, so everytime you visit, you see a different car featured.

I am probably going to rewrite that copy and also add a tips and a vendor page.

I don't really like the colors that much either, but I'm not sure what I'd do to change it.

I think the links should all be together. Maybe down the left side. I think the email should just be a contact us/me link along with the other links. That's how they usually are. The " I Come to You!!" should be we come to you or you should change the we's on the "what is detailing?" link to I...just be consistant. I don't really like the visitor counter things, but that's just me. I think you can put in invisible ones if you want that info for yourself.

Hope some of that helps.

Scott - IMHO, the java is killing you. I really see no use for it to be honest. It doesn't really seem like a link at first, and when you mouse over it, no mouse cursor change to indicate it is a link. It doesn't work in the Firefox web browser (which is slowly catching up to Internet Explorer in terms of users), and java is just so... 1995. ;) I'd change them to images personally, that way it works in all browsers, is much quicker, and won't make firefox users hate you.

You do have one broken link in your exotic car gallery that I noticed - the link to the full sized image of the blue 2002 Jaguar S type doesn't seem to work.

Other than that, and maybe the bright blue background on the main page, I think it's a nice site.

Sorry if I seem picky, just pointing out the few negatives that I see, there are a lot of positives to the design also. And you do some fantastic work! :)

edit: The broken link was refering to your OLD site (scottwax.com), not the new one... Sorry for any confusion

Scott,

I agree with ditching the java. Unless it can be cleanly done to be browser independent, ditch it.

I'm not sure about the blue background with the white text. Makes it a bit hard to read the smaller unbolded font. Congrats on the usage, instead of , and stick to instead of . It is better for SEO (Search Engine Optimization). I would also look into using a CSS to style all info away from the tags, and you should probably ditch FrontPage. That application is just a flaming pile.

Don't mean to come down or anything. I think it's great. The more people out there that write web sites will start to realize it isn't easy making a really good website. When I got to my company there were so many things I wanted to clean up and stream line, but unfortunatly after two years there have been so many fires put out, and new projects on the table, cleaning up other code just isn't a possiblity.

Anyway, I've started saying too much (as I ramble), just should stick to my 2 cents and bow out.

Looks good for a start though!

Not a fan of the site...It does not really show what you are capible of. You are a great detailer with a boring site. It is like going to a deli that usesthe best meat, but they use half assed toppings and bread..

Web Templates are cheap! Less than $50 and you are good to go!

See below:

Templaterover.com has tons of Automotive related templates..

I didn't have any problems with the blue/red colors :nixweiss

What did bug me is the from the initial homepage, clicking on the "View My Work" icon didn't take me to the full selection of cars you've done but rather to to "Japanese Cars" selection.

Accumulatorette (pro copy editor) would probably make a few changes to the wording on the Services Offered page, but then she's more particular about such things than normal people.

That is because this is a test page only and so far, my brother just has the Japanese cars laid out like that. Once he has them all up, then you can access all cars.

My brother changed my copy to make it fit, still working on a better layout for that.

Adam-The home page will be changed up, my brother is trying to figure out which template to use and still keep the larger picture size. He started on the site content first instead of the main page.

Java haters-the site will be java free when it is completely updated, home page included!

Probably going to add more before and after and dump the smaller pics (the 320 x 200).
