Test drive with a 335i auto transmission.

it's 344 hp, An many are actually dynoing far far below that. Somewhere around 290-320 when corrected for DTL.

It is 500lbs too heavy, The clutch is weak. Very weak.

The mods consist of, exhaust where you loose your low end, a cai that makes it louder then all get out in the cockpit, and a chip that gains you10-15 hp and torque with a written previso that the error rate on the dyno is 5-8hp +-.

I love the s4, it is a great car. But it is not a min of 350 hp, which i want. The up coming pes G4, apr SC, VF engineering SC have all been in development for 2 plus years. They have working prototypes and show consistant gains of up to 450hp. the problem is they still have not been released. Why is that? Well it is because it is a 10:1+ compression engine. It was not built for FI systems. Things are breaking, the vvt is kicking in, the fuel air ratio's get goofy.

It's a great car stock, minus being a pig and having a clutch bult for a datsun 510.

I've been lucky enough to drive an S4 consistently for the last 6 months or so. Excellent car; but I agree with Grouse, too heavy, very weak clutch, and imo, understeer. :/

you can fix the under steer with stasis CD that swaps the older b6's (2003-2005) from 60/40 to 20/80 front rear bias. The clutch can be replaced for2500-3g

but the weight, you can't slim the pig down.

S4 drives like a pig for such a small car (still handles good but you can feel the weight), that is the one thing I hate about Audi's, too heavy and I cannot stand the feel of awd (give me rwd anyday). AWD always has a numb sensation, saps some power, and it adds even more weight. I drove the RS4 and was pretty unimpressed too, definitley didn't feel like 420 hp. I wish Audi would release rwd with their cars.

With BMW after what the car cost and what they built it to be, I cannot fathom why they did not put in an lsd....talk about a bean counter decision lol. My sister wanted to get one, not sure now. We went to the Beemer dealer and honestly for what the car cost, it just doesnt feel worth it for a small car. I'd pick up a used e39 M5 instead. Though I'm waiting to see what the e90 M3 will truly look like from all the photos I've seen, b/c I'm not fond of the new 3 series styling.

Seems like the Viper and even latest ZO6 are the last cars really around that have what I love, "raw feel". Even Porsche is too refined now, I loved our 993, 996 in comparison was borring (disregarding GT3) even the turbo was borring and felt more like a GT Touring type car in stock form. And now the new GT3 will have a friggen sunroof, hell might as well add more cup holders, the back seat back in, full leather interior lol.

off my off topic rant :chuckle:

Heh, funny this came up and I posted above, neighbor bought one for daughter (auto). Even funnier she didn't really know anything of what turbo was etc, she just wanted it b/c it was a coupe LOL. Still, looking at it, I'm trying to really picture what the next gen M3 will really look like, personally I don't think it's going to have the agressive look the e46 did. I didn't realize they were pretty widely available now, only seen a few, but checked dealers and most have them in stock.

They've been on dealer lots since Sept 1. There are vids of the new M3 out, looks like this coupe but much wider, huge fender flares, hood has the M scoop, etc. Looks good, imo.
