I cleaned the lower cladding with Top Of the Line Tire Cleaner diluted 1:1. The gunk that came off it was a dark brown mess. I dressed it with Meguiar's Hyperdressing diluted 2.5:1. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip. Mine is three years old and still drips cosmoline from the door bottoms onto the cladding as well. Not sure what the VW engineers are thinking with that design. I use S100 TAW followed by 303. The TAW works OK with some elbow grease but the 303 doesn't last very long - may need to try the Hyperdressing per your recommendation.
