Technique vs. Product - just how important is product really?

The cancer warning on the Ultrafina should beacuse it contains Formaldehyde. But in a very very very small dose.

(Porta, you referenced Ultima when I'm pretty sure you meant Ultrafina, since that's the MSDS you posted. I fixed your post above, and fixed Spoiledman's quoted text. -- Tort)

Please enlighten me? Is there a warning on one of the bottles?

I'm a bit surprised that 3 quarts of 3M stuff costs $120.00, call me cheap but that's too rich for my blood. I'll go 20 for a quart of compound or polish and that's it. And for that price I can get Optimum, Malco, Megs, HiTemp, or if I wanted to try something new - I'd get CG's line in the gallon size.

Dave, the "flat" black ones are the gauge.

Its Honda paint we use over here to gauge our machine finishes generally, they are known for being butter soft in the paint department... I've got a scrap bonnet and door from Hondas for testing purposes :)

I'll wait until someone prangs an E92, hopefully in solid black, so I can get one of these panels for testing. :)

I have 3 Honda products and have worked on a bunch. My black GS-R is a rock compared to the Bimmers.:LOLOL

Ya, I agree. Honda's are soft, and it could be that UK Honda's are different but the black e92's I've done are an order of magnitude softer than any Honda I've ever worked on.

Ive been saying that pretty much all along, i can garantee that i can get the same finish with op or megs 80 series as anyone else can do with menz.

How can you make a statement like that if you haven't tried Menzerna?

In my opinion, the only way you could match ( I assume the look) the finish with Meg's polishes if both bottles had the very same ingredients. To my 43 year old eyes both brands look fantastic, but slightly different.

And don't they use different ingredients? How can they look the same?:idea

To me Ultra Fina looks very different from 106ff and I will say that I prefer the Ultra Fina.

Even though I LOVE 106ff.

My bottle of Ultra Fina (32.oz) cost me $29.95 I believe. And you use alot more product.

That was a great deal for $29.95.

Ultrafina does work great on soft black. I wish it was stronger though. It is designed to remove ultrafine holograms from dark colored cars after a swirl remver.
