I've been using TurboTax for years since they make a version for the Mac as well as PC. Pretty straight-forward interview approach: answer the questions, fill in the blanks with numbers, and it spits out your forms.
Once you start using it, the following year it will import your data/info from the previous year so you won't be starting from scratch again. Then you just have to update the numbers.
If you happen to use Quicken throughout the year, as I do, then all my tax info gets imported from Quicken and I'm basically doing a double-check to make sure everything is accounted for in the right place. This saves time, let's me file sooner, and get my refund in hand sooner.

I've been a Turbo Tax user since '89 but I couldn't get TT to work with my old pc using Windows ME and Firefox. I gave TaxAct Online a try. It was pretty straight forward to use but was less detailed in the guide compared to Turbotax. The total price for filing state and federal was $22.90. Not bad compared to TT.

My wife and I normally go to our accountant, but thought we would try the Turbo Tax this year. It completely screwed up our state taxes by doubling Union Dues. Of course to call them and ask a question, it costs around $26. She then attempted to email them about the program, and it would not even accept her email address. Needless to say, we are going to the accountant again this year and already put in a dispute with the credit card company for the $67. My wife said that if you look, there are a tun of complaints on the Turbo Tax this year.

I have never purchased software to do my taxes. I have mortgage,business, tuition,,donations, etc. My wife goes to TaxAct.com. It's about $9 tto file. We have used it the past 8 years. I already have my refund. Forget Turbo Tax.
