Tar/Road junk paint zits on rockers, how to remove?

The rocker panels on my z71 have seen better days for sure, and being away at school for 9 months didnt help much. There is a fair amount of stuff basically caked onto the rocker panels, i suppose just various forms of road junk and tar. Some spots are just tiny dots that as hard as a rock, others are maybe just under dime sized. I have tried clay bar and some bug and tar remover but that doesnt seem to help. It appears like the stuff has embedded itself in the paint and is even below the clear, is there anything I can do to get this stuff out?

I think Turtle wax bug and tar does a pretty good job. Wipe on, open a beer, let sit a few minutes and wipe off, repaeat as necessary. A lot of guys here like Stoner's Tarminator but I don't think it dissolves the tar as fast. Go slow, don't rush it!!

might have to try those two out. I have stoners tarminator, but the stuff seems to leave and oily residue everywhere and doesnt get some of the really caked on stuff. The bugs/gunk are either easy to take off w/ soap and water, or they arent budging. That tarminator stuff reeks if you have it on a towel also, maybe i got a bad can. How long should i be letting it soak for?

If you can't get it with normal methods, your only good bet is AutoInt's ABC acid wash. Honestly, I'd try diesel. It really does the trick on extreme filth and tar, although its not the gentlest method. Sounds to me like you're beyond gentle methods. Remove the diesel with 16:1 APC, wash and clay. If that doesn't work, your best bet is a 3 step decon.

I second the motion! This sponge is awesome! I did a BMW Satirday and the bugs were thre layers thick (at least). I was on to the fenders in no time flat!

When I removed the road zits from my truck rocker panels I found primer staring at me. Just be warned. I think some of what you hit on the road sticks and eats through the paint.
