taping down vehicle

during which processes in washing a car is it necessary to tape down the vehicle exterior trim? (when waxing, polishing, etc??)



Also, is it necessary to tape down trim when merely using quik detailer? (i have meguiars #34 final inspection)

I would never tape the car, too long of a process. I do not know waht the professional detailers use, but I use precision to apply the wax, if I ever get wax on vinvyl or somewhere it shouldn't be, I just use a MF towel or a q-tip comes right off if you pay attention to it, and take it off immediately.

No, you don't need to tape the trim to use a QD.

i would only tape cars i prepare for show. Jst as an extra measure.



If you keep a steady hand though, you can wax without taping.

I only tape trim down when using the rotary.



Some people tape it down when waxing just to help prevent wax from getting on trim



You don't have to tape trim down for Quick Detailing.

Actually, the only problem I seem to have is QD or PC'd product on the windshield.

When I do the full detail on the Maxima, I am going to tape the washer nozzles to prevent wax and other stuff from getting in them. I am also going to tape the trim since I will be polishing with Zaino Glass polish.
