Synthetic Oil

You can swith, like everyone has already said. I run Mobil 1 in my engine and here is why. A friedn of mine used to own a perfromance shop and I was there one day when they pulled the motor of a Civic with almost 200,000 miles on it. They tore the engine down and the inside of the motor sparkled it was so clean. It was because the owner ran synthetic from day one.

I've seen lots of engines run like that, with Mobil1 their whole lives. Amazing how they look like they just rolled off the assembly line! :2thumbs:

Nothing but synthetic for me, too!

I see spelling owns me! :lol

Yeah, after seeing that I try and only run Synthetic on my car. It is a little bit more cash but at least I know my motor is taken care of. Not that regualr dino is crap, I just prefer synthetic over it is all and after seeing that torn down motor I am a believer.

Mobil 1 in my two and my fiancee's. Switched my 4th gen Z28 over at 86k miles when I bought it, no problems whatsoever.

I also ran Mobil 1 in my crapalier Z24 in college. Bought it with 70k, sold it with 175k. It ran just as good (if not better) than it did when I got it. I abused that car too, I found out it would run 65 in second gear. Don't ask what it was turning, I was scared to look at the tach.

I always just use mobil 1 and just call it a day. walmart for like $20 for the big bottle that's prefect for my 2.0L engine. I wouldn't ever want to put regular oil in any of my cars.

Just switched my new car over. Amsoil 10W30 and Amsoil ATF.

That's great stuff... :2thumbs:

Currently I'm running Red Line ATF and Pennzoil Platinum in my PT Cruiser, and I'm about to switch my brake fluid over to ATE Super Blue, as well as a coolant change :woot2:

I love working on my car!!

mrburnickas, do you mean Lube Control?? Just wondering.

I picked up a few SLOB bottles at Big Lots and am looking forward to using them.

I have been using Amsoil since 1994. I would test the oil to see what is up. Also I started to use LCD prodcut due to BITOG and Dyson Analysis.

Terry Dyson is THE MAN! He discovered a lower intake manifold gasket leak on one of my cars when there were only slightly elevated indicators. I highly recommend his services. The LCD products have also helped me keep the insides of my engines looking as good as the outside.

I use Lube Control FP60 as a feul additive every so often. Better and way cheaper than techron.

I don't use their LC20 as the amsoil additive package doesn't really need any help, but i don't see where with would hurt if you use dino oil.

Brands I recommend: Pennzoil Platinum(same as mobil 1), mobil 1, german castrol syntec 0w30(can only get it at autozone, see bobistheoilguy for label, amsoil(anything but their xl fake synthetic line), and redline oils.

All oils are synthetic, and will work great in your application. Just make sure to extend your intervals to double the oil requirements or do what i do, change every 6 months, 7500 miles.

Using Lc20 in Amsoil ASL

All my wears dropped from 0 to 59%, OXD and Nox dropped 45.83 to 38.25% and my TBN went up 26%.. Also ZDDP was up 8.29% and 11.9%. All this will cleaning…not bad.

I would agree if I never tested my oil, but after 4 years of running Amsoil in this car, Amsoil ASL needs help. Lc20 will help this oil and any oil. I would concer with oil testing and you will clearly see the advantage;

How are PP and M1 the same? PP has an EOP base and M1 a PAO.

BITOG is full of technical experts in the world of lubrication, but also has many opinionated people who just have brand loyalty...

They have run many Used Oil Analyses on pretty much every oil out there, and have evidence of a certain oil's performance...

Royal Purple is not thought of as a 'true' full synthetic on BITOG, but you'd have to look there for the reason because frankly I haven't researched that oil.

I don't see too many people who use Lucas for their oil needs, however their Upper Cylinder Lubricant is an excellent fuel additive, and from my own experience I've gained about 1.5mpg with it!

exactly, and BITOG has nothing nice to say about Lucas. Oil analysis and personal experience are the only ways to go...

sweet,

I think I'm going to start with synthetic oils then, probably mobile 1. I'd like to try some of that lc20 and fp60... where do you buy that?
