Swissvax style brushes and leather brush

Microfiber cloths are not recommended for leather (we have also spoken to a few manufacturers of these). This is because they are desigend to pick up small particles from the surface (which they do very well - you can usually feel the 'grab' on your hand) the problem is that if there is any weak area of finish on the leather the microfiber will find it and either weaken it further or pull it off as it cannot distinguish between dirt and loose particles of finish or pigment.

Do you think using a brush like Swissvax every time you clean the seats is overkill or could damage coated seats? Or is brush best used semi-annually or only as needed for deeping cleaning.

Hi

Brushes only need to be used when the leather is either very dirty or you are doing a deep clean. If you are doing a regular maintenance clean with a simpler product you will only need to do a deep clean once or twice a year. Keeping the leather clean is the best way to prolong the life of your leather but deep cleaning is really not necessary every time unless your leather gets a very high use and is pale. Maintenance cleaning can be done very quickly and effectively once a week or fortnight and this will also make the deep clean much easier when you come to do it.

Protect from new

Maintain with a maintenance cleaner/protector

Deep Clean

This is guaranteed to prolong your leathers life and keep it in good conditioin

Hope this helps

The SV wheel brushes are stippling brushes. You can find the same brushes at the fabric/craft superstores.

Thanks. Haven't been to a crafts store, but a google search brought up a few that look just like the SV brush. Btw, how do you pronounce stippling? Is the first "i" soft or hard?

Don't use them anymore, but I used a rectangle fingernail cleaner brush that you see at all the auto parts stores with success. Keep in mind this was on my own domestic car before I started detailing for actual money. They seemed to agitate very well and are about a dollar or less.

if u have not used the SV wheel brush, and is commenting on it, I would your reservations until you have used one. I just googled stippling brush.

bottom line - the SV wheel brush is extremely dense. soft yet DENSE...

I have 3 cause I like them so much. 1 for paint, 1 for wheels, and one as a backup.

Its my favorite wheel tool combo in conjunction with the Ace Powersticks and my retired sheepskin mitts for wheels.

Scotch brite are fine but do not get down into the grain like a brush does. We have never had a problem with the stiff brushes if they are used correctly.

I have never had a problem getting all of the dirt out of leather with a Scotch Brite pad. The only issue is that I can sometimes agitate the coating. This usually happens when the coating has deteriorated or is a cheap furniture coating.

If your brush recommendation is better, then I will give it a try. Do you have a picture of the brush? I personally tried a stiff plastic bristle brush a couple of times based on the recommendation of a friend in Tampa. I thought it was to abrasive, but I wasn't using a foam cleaner. If a foam cleaner is better, then I will mix one up.
