Swirls in Clear Coat

I have a 2002 Black Toyota 4Runner. I recently waxed it and it looked great. However, three weeks later, mysterious swirls are visible throughout the entire clear coat. It appears holographic. I'm dumbfounded and do not know how to proceed. I need to have them removed. What caused this? How do I get rid of the swirls?
 
'hologram' like marks are often caused by buffers that are used improperly. If you have used a buffer on the truck recently then I would suspect that is the cause of your problems. The solution is to throw your el cheapo buffer away and get a professional tool like a Porter Cable 7424. That is a fool proof tool that will remove swirls and not cause those holograms no matter how hard you try.

You might also want to consider the other tools you are using. Most of the damage that occurs to your paint is inflicted using poor wash and dry tools. If you are washing with a sponge and drying with a bath towel then you probably caused those swirls yourself. I've got some good tool recomendations on OCDetails.com if you want to check that out. DONT PANIC! I have a black '98 RAV 4 and a '05 4Runner. I find that Toyota's black is very easy to detail. They are the easiest to remove the swirls from. I use PB's SSR 2.5 w/ a yellow edge pad and follow up w/ either vanilla moose or SSR1. It is amazing to watch the swirls disappear during the process. I use those pads with the PC which I highly recommend that you get. GOOD LUCK!
