swirls aren't coming out, now what?

Anyway, watching a pro won't help because most of them use rotaries anyway.

Well, you are making an assumption there. I use a rotary, BUT I perform details quite frequently WITH owners that want to learn to use the PC. Most of the time, they have just bought a PC, and I'll show up, give them some tips, and we'll detail the car together...with us each using a PC.

The detailing business is like many other industries (home construction, home repair, landscaping, etc...), and it's up to you as a consumer to do your homework before hiring one. This site is a great place to start for finding a reputable detailer. Of course, making sure the detailer is insured, and checking references are also wise.

swabby90 - Are you sanding down the edges to match the texture on the rest of the panel on these cars? If so, sounds like it *could* be a recipe for disaster.

lambo G - Welcome to Autopia!

There's a big difference between an "off the street" Pro & an Autopian Pro. Lambos are painted by hand, don't have Ceramic clear & are on the softer side of paint hardness. Here's my suggestions:

-Find an Autopian Pro (feel free to PM me for references near you or post your location)

or

-PC at speed 6 with a 4 inch orange pad with Menzerna IP is a favorite amoung people who do paint correction via PC. I'd do some searching here for processes and techniques. Orange is a nice pad for cutting, but you'll need to follow with a softer finishing pad.

Unless you have a severe learning disability, you won't harm your finish with a PC, especially with a polish. Test a small area and see what works best. Please ask away if you come across any more questions. We're here to help.

Hi Dave, just devils advocate.

Every Lambo I have worked on has been crazy hard. I have just gotten my butt kicked on a Orange Gallardo spyder yesterday and today (finally done polishing, so far have over 200 pics) of it.

This Gallardo probably has the second hardest paint I have ever worked on. I was compounding between 3-5 passes per panel with M105 and a wool pad and had to wetsand a couple areas. 18 hours in to the polishing so far... and still have some spots left to wetsand tomorrow.

The hardest paint I ever worked on was a black Countach (obviously not applicable to modern Lambo's). I never did a write up of it but I have a link at how terrible polishing it was...

Owned by a Countach, whats the hardest paint you ever worked? - DetailersClub

I should have the Gallardo write up (4 days full concours detail, 220 pics or more, maybe some video clips) in a week or so.

Also the black LP640 I did was extremely hard as well. Then again maybe I just have bad luck?

Some more anecdotal..

For whatever it's worth, of the 5 Gallardos, 2 Murcielagos, and a Diablo I have corrected to flawless (3 mild, 5 heavier side of moderate), none of them aside from what should be in a detailers standby arsenal(especially at this level of vehicle), required anything more than some brainstorming and ingenuity. All different colors including black and orange and some very loud colors, they were hard, but with some thought everything went as expected albeit time consuming in some cases.

And for the younger vehicles, considering new Lamborghini vs old, I went into each not expecting an cakeride so I suppose thats where the ingenuity and thinking part enters..

And Lambo G, if you are going to stick with your PC try some 5.5'' and 4'' pads with appropriate product and you should be able to make better headway. Higher speeds with the bigger pads are a better idea, keeping in mind that people who use the PC use speed 3 for a spreading speed not a working speed.

You can probably look and find everything you need from 1 vendor.

These are the only 2 Lambo's I've ever been allowed to touch so far::chuckle:
