Sweaty Northeast Details v. My car, Galant GTZ, BlaX5, & more! (56k warning)

Thank you everyone. All of your comments do mean a lot to me :)

Corey: Thanks, but I think there are plenty of other exceptional rotary users here that don't show their work as much...But thank you :D

Dino: Thank you. Those pads look interesting. If you try, let me know how they work. I'm pretty happy with my LC pads. As far as Menzerna, I haven't really gotten to play with the the polishes yet. I don't want to be out in the weather longer than I have to. Once it cools down (today/tomorrow), I will probably give them a shot somewhere. Oh, Heineken? Try bed :D

hirosh: Thanks, just EX x 3. I just noted my experience with Natty's to give people a little peep of what's to come. Thank you again.

perry: Thank you. I'm glad other people see how much this humidity puts a burden on you and your work.

RCG: I am sorry :lol

Sean, I agree the heat and humidity have been really bad the last week or so. Today seems much better though.

Nice job on all the cars. I especialy like the way the Mitsu came out.

Oh, your car looks much nicer with those rims :xyxthumbs

First thing is all look incredible...amazing work. Expecially the Galant and your Acura (looks much better with the red wheels BTW)

Now to my ?: When you layer the EX how long do you wait in between coats? And before you do teh next coat what do you do to clean the paint off?

thanks in advance, Steve.

Thanks everyone. I am quite happy to have the rims back as well :)

I did 3 coats of EX about 3 days apart from each other. However, the standard waiting time is 24 hrs.

Over 3 days I obviously washed the car, but after the third coat the other day, the next day I applied Natty's over it. I just used Poorboy's S&W to clean the surface, then applied Natty's.

Sean,

I look the new red color of your wheelsand the chrome rims match wonderfully. Very nicely integrated with the rest of the car.

The detail jobs look awesome.

Excellent work Sean! The humidity has been bad here too. Highs in the upper 90s with humidity around 40-50% (heat humidity index approaching 110). I carry 5-6 extra shirts with me all the time...and then after working all day, I hit the park and knock out 12-18 miles on my inlines. I guess I am pretty aclimated to the heat!

It seems that VM and the EX...well, not twins, how about cousins? are your go to products at the moment. Great stuff to use on sunny days! Really excellent work on all, I like the X5 the best, probably because I do one very similar to that one.

Looks good! My 56k just burst in to flames! :)

Mine too. Hey Sean-I snagged a couple of your pics and got them to about 97k with excellent quality. Compress them at 50% and take the JPG quality to 90. See if you don't agree. ;)

Scott, EX, EX-P, and Wolfgang are my top dog sealants right now.

EX - Dark solids

EX-P - All metallics and light solids

Wolfgang - Red and dark metallics

How would you compare PwC to VM as far as looks and cleaning ability?

I will give that little trick a shot for decreasing the size of the pics for all you 56k'ers out there :)

PwC and VM are very similar in appearance, VM may be a touch wetter looking. Both are also pretty close in cleaning ability too.

I've still got some very light cobwebbing in my paint (the black 626) so I have to hit it good with #80 and my cutting pad, then #80 with a polishing pad then I think I am going to try NXT and then 24 hours later, a layer of Wolfgang, followed the next day or two by another layer. I may or may not at that point top with Souveran or Natty's. :nixweiss

Scott, that's quite the interesting combo. I wonder how all will bond together... I guess you are going for 'glowing wet' :D

The black paint on my 626 seems 'bright' to me. I want to darken it to what extent I can. WG should easily bond to NXT since both are polymers.

I put Blackfire on top of EX-P no problem. :D I like to experiments.
