surbuff pads (MF pad with velcro for PC)

i am for ever looking for new pads and i found some at topof theline that i am excited about. have not used them but am looking for any input from the world of autopia. please inform me . i am chomping at the bit to use them but am a little leary at this moment without some info .
 
I heard the Surbuff pads fall apart quickly. I continue to stick to offerings from Lake Country although I really would like to see some Cyclo size Sonus pads. I think my next pad purchase will be the new orange Cyclo pads.
 
Yes they are, also I read TOL describes the diameter size of these pads a little differently than other vendors.
 
TOL also sells the Surbuff pads...I do not think they are made by LC...Surbuff is out of Roswell, GA. I have them, but have never used them.
 
Yup mtodde and Bill D you guys are right, TOL sells both the Surbuf and LC and they are different companies.



I bought a Surbuf too but I haven't tried it yet. It kind of scares me that it doesn't have a rolled edge like a foam pad. I keep having visions of digging into the finish. I guess it's probably flexible enough that that won't happen but I'm still nervous. It doesn't help that the only pictures on Surbuf's website using an RO polisher are on flat surfaces.



I haven't bought anything from TOL that I didn't like so maybe I should just cowboy up and give it a try.

I bought them intending to buff off carnauba, but Pinnacle Signature is such a joy to buff off by hand that I haven't tried them. I may have given one of the pads to SilverLexus...can't remember.



The only TOL purchase I've been disappointed in was a glass cleaner tool...it was a little flimsy for doing the entire glass, but is decent for the the lowest part of the windshield & rear glass.



TOL has been great each time I've ordered from them. Generally I've had real good luck buying detailing supplies on line.
 
The Surbuf pads get a :down from me when used by hand on paint and also the Cyclo.



The pads are not very durable, especially when used with the Cyclo. One pad cuts into the other pad. They also mar the finish.



Now the pads do work great for cleaning windows, cleaning leather, vinyl and car trim. I have also used them for cleaning headliners.

What Anthony said!! Those are the worst products I ever bought from TOL. Probably the *only* bad product I ever bought from them. But then I haven't tried them on interiors yet so maybe they do have their place...but that place isn't on *my* paint.
 
well i finally tried my surbuff pads on my black chevy. i took P21s out of the jar and applied the wax to the pad. then i put a coat of wax on the hard tonneau cover of my pickup. this took just a few minutes with my pc. i took the pad off and replaced the pad with a new one out of the box. i charged the pad with detail spray from meguiars and proceeded to buff of the carnuba wax. i did not see any marring on the surface and actually did a nice job for the first half of the cover but then it started caking on the pad and not taking the wax off completely. i had to finish wiping the wax off with a mf towel. i did not give it a fair chance because i was in a hurry just to see how it worked. now today i check the thread that i wrote and there are a lot of posts and opinions. i should have used more detail spray to finish the buffing but it was getting dark. will write more this weekend when i can take the time to see how it really works
