super glue on paint!!

"Luck" Residue of design
My buddy called me one day after I detailed his bike for him and told me that he spilled super glue all over one of the hard bags while trying to glue the emblem back on it. It is of course black paint. He said he immediately got some gasoline on a rag and was able to get most of it off but it smeared and he stopped short of getting it all cleaned off. I am getting over there friday to try to fix it for him. I have purchased goo gone extreme which contains acetone but I am worried that this might dissolve the paint. The bags are after market and relatively inexpensive so replacing or repainting them won't be the end of the world but I still am going to try something to fix this and was hoping for some experience from other members here, So if you have anything for this problem....I am listening. Thanks in advance, TD

I was going to suggest the acetone, sounds like you are on the right track..with after market painted stuff its touchy...start on the bottom of the bag to see how it reacts.

wet sanding is a tad aggressive Ron, meaning now you have sand marks to take of...I would rather use something to dissolve it...

I'd be more afraid of screwing up the paint with solvent.

But that's just me, and I'm guessing at best.

I'd agree here ... the paint is going to be stained ..the acetone might remove the paint with the glue ...if you do decide to do the acetone route, then use a q-tip and gently touch only the glue ;)

I think your hosed no matter what direction you go, but with sanding then you have sand marks to polish out....then you have to wonder about the thickness of the paint
