Sun gun vs halogen work lights...

The issue is, you can't expect to see every defect with one source of light. When detailing I use, 1 4200 lumen canopy light, 4 500w halogens and a nice headlight with 4 different setting. Sometime it's the angle or the temperature of the light that makes the difference, not the "brightness".
 
Sun is the final factor, all these light sources makes "perfection" so darn variable.

In the Seattle area of the country you often don't have access to true sunlight for months at a time. You would be shocked at how difficult it is to find defects during the 120th overcast day in a row with a misty drizzle, no matter how you park the car in the driveway.

Ugh that's painful. Then unleash LEDs, Hallides, and anything else you can think of.
