Suggestions for vinyl protection

I personally use Mother's Protectant. It is available in 16 or 24oz sizes and it does a great job with light gloss. It is also good at removing film and residue on vinyl as well. It can also be used on the tires and exterior trim as well.

I've heard good things about PoorBoy's Natural Look dressing, but I personally use Meguiar's Natural Shine. I love the stuff. I'll have to try the FK1 108 at some point soon, though.

[quote name='eddie926']303 Aerospace Protectant is good, but it isn't cheap.

I agree - been using this for years on my boat and the vinyl has never cracked due to drying out. I also like the low lustre

Interested in seeing said pictures. How much shine does 108 have?

It can have a fair amount of shine if you want it to. You can adjust the amount of shine by application method and buffing. The heavier it is applied and the less it is buffed out, the shinier it will be. Use less, buff sooner, and it will be less shiny.

I just took these pics. Not real excited with the results as the lighting in my garage was less than ideal. I had to use a flash with the interior shot. The blackness on the top of the dash is a shadow from the rear-view mirror from the flash.

P.S. Just for clarification, NO those pics are not of the same car! ;)

Edit: I guess the pic files were too big. I will try to resize.

Wow, Rob, that interior looks outstanding. Guess I'm gonna be buying yet another FK1 product.

Is that a picture of a Lotus front end???

Edit: D'oh! I just noticed your avatar. Very nice car. Looks like you keep it in immaculate shape.

FK1 :woot:

They simply make some great products. The 108 is very much a "revelation" product to me, as I have never been highly satisfied with any of the other vinyl protectants that I have used. 108 is great.

Yep. It only has 5500 miles on it so far, but I will still be detailing her soon (possibly this weekend). I will just clay it, and probably go over it with my PC, a white pad and 106FF.

As you know, I have the Makita on the way, but I have no intentions of "practicing" with the rotary on the Lotus! :scared:

The tire looks nice, not greasy or wet.

Exactly right Dave. :up

BTW: ever gone to SevenStock? :)

Thanks, Rob. I think the interior looks really good, but I think the tires look fantastic! IMO, that's the perfect look for tires.

I have so much 303 on hand right now, so I'm going to wait until I need to order. I'll definitely give the FK 108 a shot.

I recently tried #40 and 303 mixed together (50/50) and loved the result ,not shiny and looked really clean.

Yep, I bought the 108 largely based on pictures that NSXTASY posted of some tires that were finished with 108, and it was exactly the look that I was wanting! :up

Right on! Once again, thanks, Rob.

I can't wait for my 303 to run out now. Haha.
