Suggestions for cleaning this wheel

Hi,



Today I saw a new SL 55 AMG. I only detail for pay for this owner. I've detailed other SLs he owned in the past. This new SL55 is beautiful to say the least but he got it with those tough to clean wheels. My strategy would be to clean them regularly with car wash and the appropriate brush and apply and sealant/wax but I doubt I have a brush appropriate for them. I really need something exceptionally safe that's guaranteed not to mar. Suggestions needed. Thanks.

Along with A2Z and WG tire cleaner, I have a few pairs of MF gloves that I use for evil wheels that I've encountered on some BMW's.



They're pretty tight fitting and give you exceptional control in getting into small places.
 
Ah, mf gloves, that would be just the thing! :up



He he, yeah, it just occured to me these look like those old BMW wheels too.

Nice car (those cars look like fighter planes at night!)...so this is the new SL you were talking about last time...I applied Z2 to my wheels last time as I get a lot of brake dust, its made cleaning much easier. Maybe get him to upgrade to 23" rims/dubs with spinners (with less spokes). :D
 
Those look somewhat like these wheels.A2Z if there real bad and I use a MF mitt also to get in between.Also seal them with some Z2 and they clean real easy after.

Yeah, will definitely have mitts, toothbrushes and have to order some mf gloves. Any easy way to get through all the way to the backs without dismounting them? I do have a long brush that will fit but its certainly too abrasive for them :scared:
 
I use Griot's BHB for my rims. Those rims look like the need a little elbow grease. I wash my rims frequently, so nothing really builds ups. The BHB is soft so it may not be strong enough for that dust.
 
For wheels like that I always start out with car wash soap. Then I move to Detailers Pride Wheel Gel. If that doesn't do it, I move to A2Z



As far as brushes for that style, I use an old Costsco MF. You can get in all the nooks and crannies. I also gently use a brush like this that I got in Pep Boys for $3.50

I'd be *very* careful trying a toothbrush on those, even well-used "soft bristle" ones are enough to mar *my* wheels. I second the BHB advice. The round ones are great for getting into the lug channels and cleaning around the lugs themselves.



To reach the backs, I'd try one of the big swabs available from Griot's, Meg's, and others. Maybe tape it to a longer stick if need be.
 
I'd probably run for my 1" foam paint brushes.... I suppose they might reach into the back of them, but you'd have to reach in behind each spoke! :eek:
