I am hoping to open a detail shop, but could use some help with things. I consider myself an ametur, but still able to get results. I don't know what to name it through or how to price it. My nickname is Sky so I was thinking "Clear Sky's Detailing" or "Shining Sky's Detail" suggestions anyone? Also, most detail places round here charge an upwards of $150 for a midsize sedan. I would be willing to charge a lot less. Suggestions for a price range? Also, how would I go about advertising? Thanks!!!

i think the name clear skys detailing sounds really good and dont lower your price to beat the competion if you do better work people will come to you instead remember GOOD WORK ISNT CHEAP AND CHEAP WORK ISNT GOOD. plus if your prices are lower you'll end up getting customers that are going to try to nickel and dime you and trust me you dont want that. good luck with your shop hope every thing works out for you.

You say you would "be willing to charge a lot less". Have you done any expense analysis against what you feel your production rate will be to validate that "a lot less" is a working business model?

You also need to make sure you are making a profit and can cover the expenses. That might be why they set those prices. Also are you using equivalent or better products?
Does your business plan support the lower price?
Also keep in mind that there have been suggestions to people to be careful of people who are charging lower prices than the competition. You might be lumped into that group by accident and miss out on some potential customers.

Well, I am more doing it as a side hobby business. I use comparable products to local detailers. I would be willing to do a midsize sedan for $100. I don't want to charge to little because my legitimacy may be discounted, but I'm young and I don't want to charge to much for obvious reasons. But in my mind $150 for about 2 hours work is way to pricey. Tell me what you think. I obviously don't have any experience in this matter of detailing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!
