Here's the situation, i have wheel set for winter and rims for summer time, so this year like every year i painted the winter set, it looks good and all, yet i wonder if i could put something on em to help repel grime, as it 's PITA to clean in spring, especially the inside part.............would silicone be a good idea, or would it in fact etch in the pain, and then make the paint flake after some time ? i thought about waxing them, yet it s no car paint so i dont know which would be best, or maybe there s simply nothing to be done about it, but still i prefer asking just in case :p

the pursuit of perfectionism is a living hell, at least in my case it is :doh

I would not recommend silicone, but I always use UPP. It works very well on the wheels, I put it on my winter and summer wheels.

Spray a couple coats of clearcoat then get some Wheelwax or use some Poorboys EX or Platnium UPP or Klasse AIO they work great for protecting and makeing cleaning alot eaiser. The inside of the rim is pretty hard to keep clean as the dust and grime tend ot bake on the inside cause of the high temps from the brakes.

Fr0zen, is wheelwax any different from regular one ? Adding couple coats of clear to them is a good idea, and what s more i got one can of it left :beer

P.S. i'm sort of hooked on those new smileys detail city added to their repertoire.

I love the new smilies also the wheel wax is supposdly more durable and makes cleaning a breeze and is more heat resistant then regular carnuba it makes cleaning all the brake dust and stuff off alot easier.
