Strongest Compound is???

My car has some serious scratches, and i need a good compound to use with a PC7424. I have come up with the most powerful of each line being

XMT #4

Optimum Polish

Poorboys SSR3

Any others I am leaving out? I am planning on using these to remove the scratches and then moving down to lighter polishes. Which one of these is the most powerful. Thanks

Adam

If your looking for the most powerful I think I would go with the xmt #4. I've heard it's very strong.

Btw I think you mean Optimum Hyper Compound instead of polish.

Before you go crazy with the strongest counpound

whay have you tried?

I removed this with a few passes of SSR2.5

menzerna power gloss

hi temp extreme cut - my favorite because it finishes out almost LSP ready...I still use a light polish afterwards

PG can finish out very well if worked properly. But I always follow up with a Menzerna finishing polish.

I like SSR2.5 for those types of scratches as well. In fact I have another coming tomorrow. Did you use a PC or a rotary for that? I might have to wetsand mine...

I usually finish it with SSR1, what do you use as a 2nd step?

Will a PC break down the stronger compounds? I've heard concerns about it before.

Some say the Meg's #83 or SSR2.5 is as strong as they'd recommend for the PC

3M Heavy Cut is very highly abrasive. Works great on hard clearcoats even by PC/Cyclo. Will definitely require further light abrasive polishing afterwards to rejuveniate full gloss.

Could I Use this with a PC? Also is it ok to mix heavy compounds and light polishes from different brands. I would think it would be. In other words could i finish it out with a lighter XMT or poorboys polish?

PC with SSR 2.5 on a swirlbuster pad

finished with HT-69

I like H-T EC with a little 1Z Ultra/Extra mixed in to increase the work time without diluting the cut. This is as aggressive as *I* would go with the PC/Cyclo and it finshes out fairly well.

But if blkZ28Conv says that 3M Heavy Cut :shocked :soscared: works I'll take his word for it...wouldn't test it on my favorite car though ;)

That's the strongest I've used and I avoid it at all costs!!! :shocked

OHC has always worked wonders for me, allowing me to get 95% correction on most vehicles I do with my PC. I haven't used any of the others, though.

It depends on the severity/extent of scratches. For an extensively scratched panel, I prefer lightly wet sanding and using a semi agressive compound instead of a full fledged balls out compound. You'll have less marring/swirling to remove and the finish will be leveled out better. For concentrated areas of light scratches, it's easier to just slowly work them out with a light compound and no sanding.
