Stronger Random orbital ?

I don't feel as though my PC needs more power, just a higher speed setting. If it would go up to 8-9 OPM I would love it, although I doubt my pads ability to stand up to that speed for extended periods.

What are you, a yard gnome?

haahaha ;)

The PC can and does Bog down at anything lower than speed 6 for me... But then again, who does any sort of correction work at anything other than speed 6?

I use speed 6 for 4" pads, with a good amount of pressure (anywhere from 20-40lbs) and I can remove EVERY defect in a 11 year old Black Silverado....

4" pads are the only way to get good defect removal with the PC.

How heavy is the Cyclo? Any issues with noise?

I've heard its louder than a PC?! :waxing:

I think it is much quiter than the PC. I used the Cyclo and PC on my sisters car a few weeks ago and my brother inlaw was in the garage and I could talk to him while Cycloing but not while PCing.

I also vote for the cyclo! Works great, doesn't bog down, isn't as hevy/bulky as it looks, and is quieter than the PC. I can have conversations or call my dog while polishing...with the PC my dog didn't even want to be in the garage with it, it was very loud/annoying IMO.

Plus, as others have stated the Cyclo is just a joy to use - - I definately enjoy longer polishing sessions now over the PC days.

I don’t know if I need more power . . . a PC with 4 Sonus SFX 1 pad can be super aggressive. Anything requiring more juice is left to the rotary.

Noting that I'm a Cyclo fan, I'll agree with the above. I've messed up clearcoat using the PC/4"/3M 05933 and I've sure never caused any damage using 05933 via Cyclo.

Leaving aside the question of how much pressure one oughta apply to the PC, I can bog the PC at any speed with a 5-6.5" pad, no problem at all. I've tried to bog it with the 4" pad at speed 5-6, and while I probably *could* bog it, I quit trying before it happened as it seemed obvious that I was being borderline stupid to experiment on paint that I cared about.

Oh, and while I always use speed 6 for correction, when I was playing around with a 4" orange pad and a mix of H-T EC/1Z Ultra, I had to slow it down to speed 5. The orange pad just wasn't stable at speed 6 (and yeah, I had it properly centered). Surprised me as I've used other 4" pads at 6 with no problem at all :nixweiss
