Stripped Hex screw..

I was trying to replace the gas door on my 98 F-150 with a new polished aluminum gas door and when I went to take off the orginal door, I noticed the hex head was stripped already, somehow. Is there a way to get it out? I tried using a wrench to try to back the nut off of the other end of the hexhead screw but there is no room to manuever a small enough wrench in there. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks
 
Maybe you could try that tip Sear's has for stripped screws. I think you can just stick it in the end of one of the interchangeable screwdrivers. Maybe that would help.
 
I picked up that thing from Sears to help get the screw out. I wasn't able to try it out when I got home because my parents wanted to go out to dinner. I will def try it tomorrow. I'm praying it works because I dont want to return the polished gas cap. Wish me luck!
 
I have used it and it really depends on how tight the stripped screw is. Its is good for light duty things like door hinge screws but for screws that are torqued down pretty tight its better to use a drill and drill it and rethread with a tap. But thats just me :D
 
You might take a Dremel tool and cut a slot in the head and then use a flat screw driver.
 
Man, join the club. I stripped out 3 of the 4 hex screws on my pedals while taking them off. Fortunatly I have the part number for the hardware kit for that set from Subaru. ;) It was an acceptable loss as far as I am concerned. I ended up having to drill one out because it was so stripped. I hate hex screws....
 
well I bought the screw out thing from Sears yesterday and took it back today! I read the directions, worked it slow....it didn't work worth a crud!! I should have just done the Dremel trick to begin with. Dremeled a slot for a screw driver and bam, unscrewed just as fast as the "screw out" messed up the head of the screw even more. I think i'm going to invest in my own Dremel one of these days instead of using my dads. Thanks for everyones help!
 
I hated that thing from Sears. A few years ago I had a stripped screw (cant remember anything as far as what it was in or what kind of screw), but I know it sucked and did absolutely nothing and took it straight back.
