storing paste waxes so they do not dry out

My wife and I have a hope chest at the foot of our bed. One side of it is dedicated to my car waxes and sealants. It's completely dark and doesn't get hotter than 77 degrees. I have quite a few waxes that are going on 6 years old that are perfect and still in use today.
 
I did have a tin of new finish ? ( the orange tin) that I picked up very cheap go bad. (it was no big loss) It separated and would not mix at all. I only used it on my moms car. The new Autopia stuff ( BF & Pinnacle) is much better and I want to keep it useful for a while. I did put it in a baggie. I used very little this week during the winter prep top coat.
