Storing a car in a smoky garage

I have a car to store this winter and the place where it is going has been my smoking room for a couple of years. Is it going to leave a film on it if I continue to smoke in the garage? Is it going to be easy to protect against or remove?



I assume my interior is going to smell like ***, is there any way to deal with that?



If I have to I will just smoke outside but it's in Wisconsin and it gets really, really cold.



On a side note my dad says that if it gets below 32* in the garage that I can use the heated garage but should I even bother dragging it through the salt?

If that's not an option, then yes, I'd smoke outside or somewhere else.

I live in Wisconsin too, so I know all about the cold. I wash my car every day or two during the winter. :)



Where are you at in WI?
 
If the car is going to be stored, why not just put a cover on it? I don't think you will get much smoke smell in the car if it's all closed, and any "film" will wind up on the cover. I suspect it doesn't get *really* cold in that garage, or else you wouldn't be in there smoking. If the car is in storage and not being run, I wouldn't really worry too much about damaging the engine from cold alone, just make sure your antifreeze is at the proper concentration so you don't freeze any. I guess there is the chance of the battery freezing too, but Maxy's your man for arctic circle advice.
 
I am a little bit skeptical about a car cover since they all talk about how "breathable" they are. I'm not sure if it would do anything for me.



The reason I am concerned about the smoke is I smoke in there now and I can smell it in my car, but for right now it's not too bad.
 
I'd at least crack the garage open a few inches so you get fresh air in there. As long as the car's windows stay closed, I seriously doubt you'll have any problems. My relatives do that all the time and none of their cars smell of cigs..unless you mean you smoke cigars?
 
No, I mean cigarettes. I can't tell if it's the interior ventilation system that makes it smell like smoke though.

Yeah I use QEW in the garage every day or two. I can't stand the salt/grime on my car for more than a day.
 
A stored car isnt going to be effected by somking in the same room. Its gonna get covered w/dust and need a wash in the spring anyway. Your going to have the windows up so thats no problem.

Just be sure to toss a few of the big moisture absorbing packets in there. If the car is completely closed to outside air and there's ANY moisture in there over the winter, it's going to smell a lot worse than if you smoke in it. :wall
