Sticky thread idea??

I don't know if you guys already have this, but how about making a sticky w/ before and after, and step-by- step pictures, and procedures of different types of situations and list the different type of products(brand-wise) that you could use to take them out.



Let me know if I'm being just totally stupid. I know something like that would definately help me, and possibly a lot of newcomers like me. So that would mean less repeated questions, and more newer advanced ones.



But again, like I said, if there's something like that already, then please direct me to it.:up
 
Things like that usually warrant their own thread. People usually have lots of questions about the 'how' and 'what' when those threads go up. It would be nice to maybe have a forum for that kind of thing. I don't think it would all fit in one thread. It would be too confusing when people started commenting on it.
 
I don't know. Whatever. It's just that i've been an active poster of specialty web forums for a number of years now, and one common thing I see among all of them is a couple of how-to stickys up, that show all newbies the basics of whatever they specialize in.

We have the eBook for that. And Better Car Care. This whole board is basicly a big 'how to' of detailing. We have the Hall of Fame too. That has some of the best threads in it. The 'Product Review' archive has a lot of the good stuff too. Its just too much information for a few stickies I think.
 
Yeah this whole forum is all about "how to" really.



There are at least a few real issues that make such stickies impractical:



- existing articles

- difficulty in capturing defects accurately in pictures

- vast numbers of products

- vast numbers of approaches to a problem



Those things, combined with personal preferences and requirements, make things way too complex for writing up articles that are not a compromise. At least here on the forum you can get a variety of opinions and search for information as well.



Sorry to say it, but people really should try and figure some of this out for themselves rather than relying on a strict paint-by-numbers recipe. :)
 
This was my attempt at a flowchart. I did this primarily for myself. I think if some of the celebrities here would put it together, it'd be more effective for new members or people just starting out. Sometimes visuals are just easier than words. Zenhog (I think that's the name) made a more indepth one. My visio blew up so I stopped working on this as the thread died out. Not to mention I can't find the file....hehe
