Steps to avoid coffee staining!

A good friend of mine just spilled 3 large cups of coffee all over his grey interior... :eek: :eek:



What should he do to get it to avoid staining, and then clean it up when he can??

Don’t drink coffee LOL



To get rid of a coffee stain (assuming the above advice has been ignored) as Scottwax says “mop� it with something very absorbent asap or sooner.



If it has ‘set’ (which it does very, very quickly) try a foam upholstery cleaner (Stoners Carpet Cleaner) or Woolite / Water solution 1:5 or stronger.



Better late than never~ Tell him to start using a fabric protecterant (303 High Tech Fabric Guard)

Cleaning coffee stains can be difficult. I often use dawn which does a good job BUT after awhile the stain returns. I dont know how to explain this event but when you clean some stains the area will look good and then a few weeks later the stain will start to reappear. If you have not experience this you will think that the person has repeated the spill when in fact its the stain coming up.

The funniest part is that he doesn't even drink coffee. We had some important clients coming to the office today, so we went to pick coffee up for them. Apparently, on the way back someone cut him off, and splash.. suddenly he was swimming in coffee.. :scared :shocked



He's not really one of us, so his car rarely sees a wash or wax, let alone get some chemicals to protect anything.. we'll see how well it comes out though. the seats werent too bad, it's more the floor carpet and the floor mats...

I don’t mean to ‘go off subject here, but why would water harm leather (if that’s what you’re inferring)

Isn’t all leather tanning done with water (plus I clean all my leather (vehicles and household) with a Water / Woolite solution)?



I asked simply to learn, not to be a smart as..

Simonize makes a spray foam carpet and upholstery cleaner that I used to get coffee w/cram ( cream too ) out of my biege carpet a week after it happened. Worked perfect. Tall blue can

I never tried it on leather, so I don't know if it works on leather or not. I too use water/woolite for mild interior cleaning (courtesy of Scottwax's ideas) :D.
 
Since the availability of brands varies by region...



Ask your local chemist for "Sodium Metabisulfite". Mix in water, spray. Wait. Blot.



Stain gone.
