Steam Cleaner

mjlinane

My name is Mike
In an earlier thread, Al asked what was our biggest planned purchase. Well, I did it today - I just ordered a Dupray Hill Injection Steam Cleaner. Am really looking forward to using it.

cool

have you owned any steamers in the past?

dupray is continuous fill?

put up a quick review if you can after you get the chance to familiarize yourself with the unit. I have a vx5000 and was curious just how much 'better' the dupray was for the cost

Only small handhelds. This will be major step up.

Yes, it is continuous fill.

Will do. Debated long and hard between the Dupray and the VX5000 but chose the Dupray because of the 121psi and hot water injection. You really pay for that though.

got a dupray myself and love it. lent it to a neighbor for a mini van and it did the impossible. cleaned a grade school teachers 10 year old mini van. the fact it looks like a italian expresso machine is a plus too.

I also have the VX5000 which by the way, does have a hot water injection feature too.
Yes, it is smaller and doesn't hold as much water and is not continuous fill, but I didn't need or want those features.
I am sure that this unit will be a great addition to your needs - enjoy !!!

Can someone elaborate on the hot water injection and continuous fill? I've been eyeing the vx 5000 for a future purchase, but I was wondering where the other two features of the Hill might benefit me.

Continuous Fill extractors have a refill tank and a boiler. This allows you to add water while the machine is in operation. Theoretically, you would never run out of steam. Non-CF require you to depressurize, fill with hot water, and wait for repressurization. They generally have bigger tanks, though, so this doesn't happen often.

Hot Water Injection is pretty much what it sounds - hot water is sent out with the steam. It will carry more dirt away faster than steam alone. On cars, probably most useful on wheels and engine.

You're going to LOVE that machine. I just received my Hill Injection on Saturday and have used it a few times already; it completely blows away any so-called "steam cleaner" I'd ever used before. Worth every penny.

Dear Michael & Friends

What all can you do with steam cleaner? I know they're used for cleaning carpets and fabric upholstery, but I didn't know they could be used for wheels, too.

Update: I Googled "Dupray Hill Injection Steam Cleaner" and found it. I'd like to have such a device for around-the-house cleaning, but unless the website's price is for a ten-pack, it's far beyond my reach.

Hi Jaddie.

Pretty much limited by your imagination. You can virtually clean the entire car (and house). Paint, wheels, trim, glass, fabric, vinyl, leather, vents. There are videos on the forums (e.g., Check it Out!! - Auto Geek Online Auto Detailing Forum) and youtube. I was actually wondering why I hadn't bought a steam cleaner before.

Dear Michael

Thank for the link.

I have a steamer for getting the wrinkles out of studio backdrops (muslins). I thought I was splurging by paying US$60 a few years ago.

I'm looking forward to images and videos of your work. I've been telling my family that I know "this guy in Texas who painted his cars with his swimming pool."

I'm waiting to go over and help test that beast Mike bought. I have some good test vehicles that are not as clean as his which is more realistic. Engine is one area I want to try out (Ford Expy valve covers)
