How did most of you start? I'm assuming as a one person show, doing it out of your home, then growing from that? How long, or at what point, were you able to add help and grow your business? Are most of you mobile, or working out of a shop?

I know these are pretty random questions, but I'm just trying to get a basic feel for this industry, and know I have a ton to learn...

Thanks in advance.

Welcome.

There is where there should be a pointer to a novel to cover what you could want or need to know.

Have you done any detailing other than just washing a car?

I have been known to be meticulous about my own car, so I've done more than just wash my own car, but definitely far from any kind of expert like I'm sure you are. That's why I'm here. 60 years old and trying to find a way to make money, other than what I'm doing. I know the questions were vague and random, just looking for a little guidance, knowing in advance this is a very long shot.... I ran grocery stores for 38 years, stores that did $2M per week, so I understand business, just not up to speed on this business model.

I'd highly recommend that book colinpd137 linked for you. I'm actually reading it now and it will answer every question you have on starting your own business.

My fiances grandfather ran grocery stores for about 40 years and was running stores from 2M/week to some that were 4-5M/week. Not easy work, and if you are anything like him, you know business.
